The 2017 edition of ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL will see its RESISTANCE concept dominate not one, but two huge stages at Bayfront Park as it grows into a festival within the festival. In addition to welcoming back Arcadia Spectacular’s imposing ‘Spider’ structure across all three days of the event, RESISTANCE will now team up with its recently announced global ambassador Carl Cox to take over the Megastructure on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25. Following thirteen consecutive years of ‘Carl Cox & Friends’ inside the vaunted arena, the legend himself now introduces a brand new era as a driving force behind ULTRA’s burgeoning RESISTANCE concept.
Having unveiled a select few RESISTANCE performers in its Phase One lineup announcement on November 17 (including the U.S. return of Sasha & John Digweed together for the first time since 2010), the World’s Premier Electronic Music Festival now drops the names of thirty-one RESISTANCE acts set to descend upon Downtown Miami in just a few months time.
Arcadia’s fire-breathing Spider will welcome house and techno heavyweights including (in alphabetical order) ANNA, Chris Liebing, Dosem, Dubfire, Eats Everything, Hector, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Kölsch, Maceo Plex, The Martinez Brothers, Matador, Matthias Tanzmann, Nic Fanciulli, Reboot, Seth Troxler, Technasia and wAFF. Support comes in the form of Elio Riso, Josefin Rosen and RioTGeaR.
As mentioned previously, Carl Cox will helm RESISTANCE’s debut outing in the Megastructure across both Friday and Saturday, where he will be joined by (in alphabetical order) Black Coffee, Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers, Sasha & John Digweed and Tale of Us, among others. Support comes from B. Traits, Eli & Fur, Jon Rundell and Saeed Younan.
Adding to one of the biggest Phase One announcements in the festival’s history are a host of additional headliners including (in alphabetical order) Crystal Castles, Dash Berlin, Deadmau5, Richie Hawtin and Steve Angello!
In a huge move from event organizers, and for the first time in the festival’s history (and ASOT’s history for that matter), both Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz will headline the ASOT Stage before the man himself, Armin Van Buuren, closes the gargantuan Megastructure on Sunday night.
Techno legend Richie Hawtin will be joining Carl Cox & Friends in The Megastructure on Saturday, while Dash Berlin and Steve Angello will be throwing it down on the Main Stage as only they know how. Last up from the Phase Two headliners, Crystal Castles will be returning to Ultra’s Live Stage armed with a load of brand new material, for what will no doubt be one of the highlights of the weekend.
In another Ultra first, Tiësto will play a one-off Sunset Slot at the Main Stage on Saturday, where the master-selector will no doubt bring his ever-expanding catalogue of music to the people. Two very special labels will be taking over the UMF Radio stage across the weekend, with Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings hosting some of the most exciting up and coming artists in the house scene today on Friday for the very first time, before Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint returns on Saturday to provide Ultranauts with a face full of bass.
To complete the RESISTANCE stage (powered by the Arcadia Spider) the world’s number 1 club, Space Ibiza returns on Saturday to host some of the finest names on the house and techno circuit. Full details on running order for each day can be found on the official Phase Two posterhere

Following its hugely successful, record-breaking second edition in February 2015, ULTRA South Africa officially returns in 2016, as it announces plans to expand the festival into a full three-day affair!
Having smashed its own record for being the largest electronic music festival in African history this year, and with an increase of 20% in attendance recorded from 2014, it can now be revealed that ULTRA South Africa, due to popular demand, will run for TWO consecutive days at Johannesburg’s Expo Centre, Nasrec on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27, before returning to Cape Town on Sunday, February 28, for a finale to remember.
To celebrate, ULTRA South Africa now reveals its incredible 2015 aftermovie. Directed, produced and shot in 4K by Final Kid mastermind Charly Friedrichs, the aftermovie showcases the magnificent sights of South Africa alongside the fist-pumping sounds of the world’s biggest DJs, and the result is simply breathtaking. Kicking off with Martin Garrix reminiscing about his very first main stage festival performance at ULTRA South Africa itself back in 2014, the aftermovie follows the Dutch luminary a year on from his landmark moment, combining it with some of the incredible footage that was shot at Ostrich Farm, Cape Town and The Expo Centre, Nasrec, Johannesburg over the two mesmerizing days earlier this year. To celebrate the release, Garrix himself also decided to premiere two exclusive collaborative tracks with Matisse & Sadko that you can only hear in the ULTRA South Africa aftermovie. Check it out below!
The three-day expansion isn’t the only exciting change next year however, with the Cape Town leg of the festival moving to The River Club—a strikingly beautiful inner-city venue that will host some 20,000+ revelers come next February. ULTRA South Africa will be the first event of its kind to be hosted at newly renovated River Club and with its central location and jaw-dropping surrounding views, it’s guaranteed to be a sure-fire hit with Capetonians and international fans alike.
ULTRA South Africa will be implementing an easy-to-follow registration process for 2016. Pre-registration will open on Monday, June 22 and will close on Sunday, June 28, giving die-hard fans the opportunity to put themselves to the front of the ticket queue when early birds go on sale on Tuesday, June 30.
Early bird tickets are in very limited supply and will be available exclusively fromultrasouthafrica.com. Please register to avoid disappointment; this will help speed up your purchasing process.

In 2013, Ultra Music Festival shattered attendance records as approximately 330,000 revelers descended upon Miami’s Bayfront Park and Biscayne Boulevard for two weekends of extraordinary musical talent and an out of this world stage-production. Becoming the first electronic music festival in history to expand to two weekends, ULTRA 15 saw an unprecedented gathering of artists, which reportedly displayed the largest variety of electronic music that North America had ever seen. Featuring Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Trap, Electro, Techno, Deep House, Trance and more, Ultra Music Festival conquered practically every facet of EDM, providing a plethora of incredible musical experiences to satisfy virtually every taste and preference.
Ultra Music Festival 15 featured the largest and most technically advanced concert stage production and designs ever seen at an outdoor festival, as the latest in staging automation technology, video, set design, and creative LED video systems were combined to form a complete and awe-inspiring audiovisual experience. The massive Main Stage measured in at over 200 ft. wide and 100 ft. high, housing 1050 intelligent lights, 12,000 shots of pyrotechnics, the most dynamic lighting rig to be found at any stage found on earth, and 12 full-color, 32-watt lasers.
