Claptone’s Masquerade at Pacha Ibiza Review

One of Ibizas iconic nightclubs Pacha was our choice of destination in our visit over to the White Isle this week. Pacha is steeped in history hosting some of the biggest nights on the island week in and week out over the primetime summer months.

This year, every Saturday night, the masked legend that is Claptone, hosts his Masquerade evening at Pacha. Walking through the door, we gladly accepted a gold venetian style mask, much like the one Claptone wears, and headed through the foyer and into the famed dance floor.

Supporting the German DJ on the night are Lovra, Dom Dolla and Jacques Lu Cont. Strolling in early, Lovra is on the wheels of steel, getting the crowd warmed up for the evening. Her energy behind the decks is infectious and the dance floor fills before Dom Dolla takes to the decks. The house music producer from Australia treats the crowd through an uplifting set, full of hands in the air tracks right before the main act for the night arrives.

Arriving in his Masquerade attire, Claptone’s gold mask shines beneath the amazing lighting system Pacha has installed on its ceiling. With the main room, now full to the brim and the surrounding VIP tables packed, Claptone takes us on a journey through some of his biggest hits and remixes. Professional dancers wearing all sorts of funky outfits take position on the various podiums around the room and across the DJ booth and groove as Claptone kicks off his set. The headline set starts as expected with a banging house hit Lauren (I Can’t Stay Forever) by Oden & Fatzo, the crowd erupts into cheers, fists are pumping, heads nodding and bodies grooving. This really sets the scene for the rest of the evening, Claptone’s two hour set has the crowd reacting to every single tune. I, along with pretty much everyone else on the dance floor, remain dancing for the entire set, and that is testament to the quality of music that Claptone provided on the night. Towards the end of his set the music was taken up a notch, Claptone’s tech house sound rounding off what I can only describe as musically one of the most entertaining sets I’ve heard live in a long time!

If I’d recommend a night in Ibiza this summer, I’m most definitely going to recommend Masquerade at Pacha. The crowd, the music, and the atmosphere where just right for a night to dance away too.

Sven Väth Announces Two Exclusive Dates at Club Chinois Ibiza

Cocoon label head and global techno influencer Sven Väth’s is to play two exclusive dates at Ibiza’s all new Club Chinois. The world renowned DJ will play longer sets under the banner of Catharsis on 21st June and 27th September.
Arriving in February this year, Catharsis was German pioneer Sven Väth’s first solo album in almost 20 years. It is a record inspired by Sven’s interest in the physical and spiritual processes that take place when we dance and it shows he is still right at the sharp end of the techno scene. The stylistically diverse record captures all the essence of Väth’s many different sounds over the years from minimal to techno, electro to ambient.
It came on his vital Cocoon label which is also the name of his world famous parties in Ibiza. They introduced the island to techno more than 20 years ago and have always been its beating heart ever since. Sven is of course at the centre of it all as a DJ who can play for hours on end and always keep the crowd enthralled. His deep knowledge and mastery of musical storytelling across all forms of techno is second to none. For that reason, he is sure to make these two dates hugely special as he goes from big and euphoric sounds to stomping grooves, tough techno to more lush and melodic sounds. No trip to Ibiza is complete without seeing this master at work.
This year, he plays in a more intimate space than usual for the White Isle as the all new Club Chinois – which has taken over and fully redesigned what was HEART Ibiza – allows dancers to get up and close and personal. The space is bathed in lush gold tones, with cutting edge light and sound and stylish design to offer an all new kind of experience.
These special dates will see Sven play a couple of longer than normal and unmissable sets.
 

Club Chinois Ibiza Announces Trio of Innovative New Residencies From Luciano, THEMBA & Guy Gerber

The much anticipated opening of brand new Ibiza venue Club Chinois is just around the corner and today it announces three standout residencies for summer 2022. Playing across the season on a weekly basis will be world renowned stars Luciano on Saturdays, THEMBA presents Colours on Wednesdays and Guy Gerber presents Mirror Games on Sundays. These innovative new nights make Club Chinois the White Isle’s most unmissable new experience, with a cutting edge selection of headliners to be announced for each party in the coming days.

Club Chinois is from the team behind Park Chinois, London’s iconic Asian restaurant, and is a stylish new spot meticulously designed by award-winning Parisian design studio Laleh Assefi. Housed in the former HEART site and inspired by the decadent yet iniquitous jazz clubs of 1930’s, the venue mixes up old-world hospitality with world class service, production, light and sound and a tastefully curated series of residencies for its first season.

Global techno innovator and Cadenza label boss Luciano is to host Saturdays from 2nd July until 27th August. His weekly events will bring the best in underground talent to the club, with a rare intimate vibe and high class sound. His own sets will take centre stage and promise the sort of masterful grooves and Latin flair that have made the award winning Swiss-Chilean DJ and producer such a recognised superstar.

Sundays from 19th June until 9th October will be all about “Guy Gerber presents Mirror Games” , which is centred around the power of the mirror. Inspired by Anish Kupor and James Turrell, Mirror Games is a deeply personal project for Gerber who takes sole charge of the creative direction, bookings and artwork for this party himself. It’s a very human endeavour, with production reliant on hand made physical art rather than technology and every week, attendees will enter into a room full of mirrors; tinted, distorted, ancient and new, which will reflect our pain, pleasure, beauty and flaws. Hidden inside this hall of mirrors will be a special room that allows you to pass through the looking glass. Mirror Game members or token holders will step beyond the party, having access to curated digital art pieces, an ownership stake in a Gerber track and even a stake in the party itself. Will you come inside?

Wednesdays from 15th June 28th September will be “THEMBA presents Colours”, the pioneering South African artist who burst onto the dance scene in 2018 with a series of high-profile sets and music releases such as ‘Who Is THEMBA?’ which became a chart topping global smash. THEMBA’s sound is forged from his African roots, incorporating local singers, songwriters and percussionists to create his own unique take on electronic music and that will be reflected in the global house sounds he curates at his much anticipated new residency.

These three very different but equally vital residencies promise to bring untold musical pleasures to Club Chinois each and every week this summer. The final countdown is now on to Ibiza’s most talked about new opening.

New Ibiza venue Club Chinois Announces Opening 17th June

Club Chinois is an all new nightlife experience from the people behind London’s acclaimed Asian restaurant Park Chinois. It takes over what used to be HEART after a multi-million euro renovation and will bring world class headliners, one-off acts and live shows from across the musical spectrum. The long awaited return of Pyramid to the iconic Amnesia is now just weeks away. Octan Ibiza’s mission to bring no-frills, proper basement clubbing back to Ibiza continues with a huge first wave of names for their phase 1 launch. All-new Sunday party, Encore will change the game and bring the likes of Skream, Steve Lawler, Dubfire, Enzo Siragusa, Paul Woolford, wAFF, Matthias Tanzmann, Raresh, Priku, Archie Hamilton, Lauren Lo Sung, Praslea, Art Department, Darius Syrossian, John Acquaviva, Mason Collective plus many more to the Sunday hotspot of Ibiza. Famously, the walls have been designed and painted by acclaimed Leeds artist Nicholas Dixon. Inside the Basement is all about an intimate, low-ceiling, personal club experience with a world-class sound system while the Lab offers its own different sound with a high-wall, warehouse aesthetic.

Leading the way this summer is all-new, music-centric Sunday party Encore, which boasts a tasteful mix of quality artists from across the house, tech & underground spectrum. Each and every Sunday throughout the season it will mix up the best names in the game and kicks-off with a huge ‘Traumer Invites’ party that sees Raresh, Priku & Gescu join Traumer on May 29th. Ibiza Holidays Donated to NHS Healthcare Workers

 Together for Healthcare Heroes [short: T4HH], the charitable initiative set up on the Balearic Island of Ibiza, is set to reward NHS medical workers who have selflessly helped hundreds of thousands during the Covid-19 pandemic with a free stay on the White Isle at the end of the summer.

 The British nation’s beloved healthcare institution celebrated its 73rd birthday in July and in further good news it has been confirmed that 50 NHS workers from Hospitals such as Birmingham and Royal Oldham Hospital in Manchester will be able to enjoy a much-deserved break on Ibiza.

 12 months on from its official launch, the T4HH campaignhas successfully secured 140 luxury accommodation options generously donated by hotel and villa owners. In total, these equate to 6,800 complimentary nights in the popular destinations across Europe and the Middle East in luxury locations like Ibiza and Dubai valued at over €1 million. 

 

 Healthcare Heroes will arrive in Ibiza at the end of the summer 2021. Approximately 400 guests in total will be able to enjoy a free stay on Ibiza over the course of the campaign, as well as other European and Middle Eastern destinations.

 T4HH now calls for support from the public in rewarding our Healthcare Heroes for their incredible efforts on the Covid-19 frontline by helping to raise funds for flights and insurance. A crowdfunding campaign has been set up through Raisely to help cover these costs for the beneficiaries.

 Healthcare Heroes will be chosen from the UK, Spain, France, Austria, Germany and Italy, with approximately 500 guests travelling over this period.

Its Thursday night and the Summer Festival Guide crew is in the sunny White Isle otherwise more commonly known as Ibiza!

We immediately notice this morning that our hotel is much more busier than it was earlier this week which makes me think that Ibiza is going to be busy tonight. With so many amazing clubs here, there is one club and event that we would definitely not miss. Tonight internationally renowned Amnesia hosts global super clubbing brand Cream, this happens every Thursday during the summer months and brings together some of the biggest artists on the planet.

This year you will find the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Markus Schultz, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Fatboy Slim, Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Laidback Luke, Pete Tong and many more gracing the decks at this award winning club which has been around since 1976!

This evening's lineup reads like something out of a music festival with Armin Van Buuren, Fatboy Slim, Aly & Fila, John O'Callaghan, Amine Edge & Dance and more providing the beats that the crowd are here to dance to.

Driving to Amnesia just as the doors are about to open (around midnight) we get a tingling sensation knowing that we are about to experience something we never have before. The bright lighting from the sign and floodlights immediately signal we are in on the right course and jumping out of the car and into the queue there is already music blaring out of the doors. You can just feel the energy from everyone around you as you start to walk into the main room with Ruben De Ronde already getting the crowd well warmed up with some banging trance.

We walk across to the Terrace, Anton Powers has a crowd grooving to some house beats. The VIP section is located on the floor above both dance floors with immense views of the crowd on the main and terrace dance floors. With our bearings all sorted we get settled into the main room with Australian artist Marlo given the job of setting up for trance master and A State of Trance (ASOT) head honcho Armin Van Buuren. Marlo's set is incredibly energetic and by the time 2.30am rolls around the main room is packed to the rim! Armin wastes no time getting into the groove as he kicks into top gear bringing his notorious trance sound to the hot and sweaty crowd. With CO2 cannons, incredible visuals and lasers in the mix, Anmesia really does live up to its name and reputation as one of the worlds best clubs.

Having already danced my feet off for over 2 hours in the main room, I head to the Terrace to catch the infamous Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. As with the main room, the terrace is also packed right to the back bar but there is still plenty of room to have an enjoyable dance. As the lights go down, the vocals of Praise You kick in with a huge applause and cheers from the crowd. The room glows yellow and Fatboy Slim pops up behind the decks. Immediately we are hit with the synths of Eat Sleep Rave Repeat and you can feel that Fatboy Slim is teasing the crowd, as soon as the bass kicks in, the CO2 cannons erupt and bodies are jumping all around the dance floor. I get a feeling this is going to be quite the workout if this is anything to go by.

Fatboy Slim's two hour set is fun and enjoyable, one of the best I have heard for a long time, full of tunes from his enormous back catalog including Renegade Master, Star 69, Praise You, Rockafella Skank and more.

As I head out the doors in the early hours with a huge smile on my face, I am massively happy that I came to Amnesia to witness the Cream experience. For anyone heading to the sunny shores of Ibiza, Amnesia and especially Cream is a night you should book into your schedule. Warning, bring your best dancing shoes because its guaranteed you will not move off that dance floor from the moment you enter those doors!

Cream comes to Amnesia every Thursday until the 15th September 2016.
