Born & Bred is Londons latest summer festival, details here
Celebrated London promoters Found are to raise their game for 2015 by announcing the first in a new Found Series of five festivals taking place throughout the summer. On Saturday 6th June in Haggerston Park, Shoreditch, Found Presents: Born & Bred will champion true London sounds forged in the Big Smoke with leading figures from across the bass spectrum including Wiley, Goldie, Zinc, Digital Mystiks, Joker, Loefah, Youngsta, DJ Luck & MC Neat, Oxide & Neutrino, Trojan Sound, Moxie, Channel One, Klose One, Paleman and many more…
Born & Bred will celebrate some of most exciting genres that have defined underground music in the city over the past twenty years. Looking to the grass-roots of music culture in the capital, the festival programme salutes a set of true pioneers in their respective scenes. The line-up hosts a set of artists responsible for representing the city we love on a global scale and unifying generations with genuinely game-changing sounds that look to both electronic and bass music culture.
Through dub to dubstep and garage to grime, UK bass culture has consistently pushed boundaries and spread its influence across the globe. Celebrating some of the finest home-grown talent, Born & Bred’s main stage will thus be headlined by Godfather of Grime, Wiley. As notorious for crossover singles like ‘Heatwave’ and ‘Wearing My Rolex’ as he is for delivering some of grime’s most iconic independent records, Wiley’s proud East London roots make him a natural choice to perform. He’ll also be joined by Metalheadz founder Goldie – an influential figure in the world of drum & bass, regarded for helping to shape the face of the genre in the UK.
Pioneering DJ/producer Zinc is also set to perform – an artist instrumental in shaping contemporary club culture since the release of classic drum & bass record ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ released back in 1995 – and will be joined by dubstep icons and DMZ founders Digital Mystikz aka Mala and Coki, with Bristol’s Jokeralso set to showcase new live project ‘The Mainframe’. Bringing carnival vibes to the main stage programme are bashment crew The Heatwave – famed for their nationwide series of ‘Hot Wuk’ club nights – with Soundclash veterans Channel One and Trojan Sound showcasing a host of foundation dub classics in support. NTS Live radio show host DJ Moxie is also set to make her Found debut, with up-and-coming production duo Silas & Snare Surgeon slated to open main stage proceedings.
Loefah’s Swamp81 imprint will curate Born & Bred’s second arena – headlined by the label boss himself – alongside a slew of label artists. Wheel & Deal affiliate Benton, School Records boss Klose One,Swamp regular Mickey Pearce and latest label recruit Paleman – best known for 2014 underground anthem ‘Beezeldub’ – are all set to perform. Rinse FM’s Youngsta – a key figure in the expansion of dub label Tempa – will also join Loefah and friends, alongside further label associates Zed Bias, MC Chunky& Jonny Banger.
First established as grime-focused YouTube channel Don't Watch That TV back in 2009, London based events and music series JUST JAM are to take control of Born & Bred’s third arena with an electric custom live visual display providing the backdrop. Headlining on the day are grime crew OGz – featuring P Money, Blacks, Little Dee, Jendor, Desperado and Stormer – who are also to be joined by legendary grime MCs D Double E & Footsie, the Newham Generals.
Comprised of 10 members – a fluid mix of producers and emcees – Lewisham-based collective The Square represent the next generation of conscious-minded, new school grime artists and are the next to take to the JUST JAM stage. Fronted by recent XL Recordings signee and BBC Sound Of 2015 nominee Novelist, the crew can already boast a live performance at Milan Fashion Week – as well as numerous appearances on BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM and NTS Live – since the release of debut mixtape ‘The Formula’ in 2014.
Leading grime DJs Logan Sama and Sir Spyro – as well as Rinse stalwart Scratcha DVA and Butterz’ grime-garage protégé Royal-T – will all represent the station alongside special guest T.Williams, who is to play under his grime moniker ‘Dread.D’ for a one-off 2002 – 2005 grime set.
Influential street-wear tastemakers Wavey Garms are to host Born & Bred’s fourth and final arena, enlisting a special cast of UK Garage pioneers in Scott Garcia and Sticky – who will headline asFoundation alongside MC Creed – and DJ Luck & MC Neat. Legendary garage duo Oxide & Neutrino,V Recordings label heads Jumping Jack Frost and Bryan G and Jungle icon Brockie complete the bill.

Dreamscape Reunion headliners revealed
Since the initial announcement back in February that DREAMSCAPE would be reuniting for its 25th birthday celebrations, the fans have been on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the full line up and main stage acts.
ESP Promotions supremo Jim Tang has not disappointed the fans with a main stage boasting world famous acts and ravers favourites such as: Grandmaster Flash, Goldie, Shades of Rhythm, Stanton Warriors, Baby D, Alison Limerick and SL2 and Clarkee.
"Since finding out that we had The National Bowl back in mid February it has been all systems go! Not only will this be the best dance music event this year in the UK, it will have been delivered in the shortest time in history I should think!" Laughs Jim Tang. We were inundated by DJ's and Soundsystems all wanting to play at The Reunion and have over 200 performers now. We have been holding out on the main stage announcements until we knew for certain that we had the right line up to send our Old Skool fans mental on August 16th."
And the announcement has not disappointed. Since the news was leaked today the fans have been going nuts and ticket sales have seen a distinct upturn. This was certainly the news everyone has been waiting for.
"Bringing together the very best in the UK Dance Music Scene such as Whizz Kid, Accelerated Culture, Sidewinder, Dreamscape and Ultra Vegas with Datatransmission under the ESP Promotions umbrella has paid off big time. To say we are looking forward to the event in August is somewhat of an understatement." says Jim.
Jim Tang's brand ESP Promotions has been at the very core of the British underground rave scene since day one.
"ESP Promotions were always the pioneers of the scene and we are resetting the standard of the UK Dance Scene once again with Dreamscape, The Reunion. We know that this is just the start of things to come. Those of us that were there the first time around have never forgotten just how fantastic those days were and how legendary the raves were. This will be a nostalgia trip for the Old Skool and a new experience unlike any they have ever known for the younger generation."
"I am delighted that we have managed to put together a lineup of such relevant, brilliant and legendary headliners that will just make everyone’s day perfect. This will be one summer that we will never forget." Concludes Jim.
Suede and Frank Turner to headline Kendal Calling
Set in the stunning surroundings of UK's Lake District, Kendal Calling return for 2014 with a bang! The first lineup announcement features headliners Suede and Frank Turner.
Joining the headliners will be hip hop legends De La Soul, Miles Kane, Happy Mondays, 2manyDjs, Andy C, Radio One's Zane Lowe, Bondax, Goldie, Razorlight, Clean Bandit and many more.

It is a very welcome return for Regina, who first played the Garden back in 2005 when she was just starting out. Now lauded as one of the most talented songwriters of her generation there is precious little that the Russian born songstress hasn’t achieved. Her music has graced television and film around the world and won her a multitude of fervent admirers including Barack and Michelle Obama for whom she performed at The White House in 2010.
Regina says:
"I'm so excited to return this summer and play The Secret Garden Party! Whenever I'm gone for a while I really start to miss the UK!
It's amazing to get to play this festival again. It is full of people who are really passionate about music. Thanks for having me!"
Also confirmed are Swedish indie-rockers the Shout Out Louds. Having just released their fourth album ‘Optica’ to much critical acclaim the Stockholm- based quintet are famed for their mesmerising live shows and multi-layered harmony. Spanning ten years their musical CV includes a globetrotting tour with The Strokes and a single release on a record made entirely of ice – you really can’t get cooler than that…
Watch out for American folk-starlet Lissie who has collaborated with the likes of Band Of Horses, Robbie Williams and Snow Patrol; synth-toting troubadour Youth Lagoon; UK buzz band Temples and Willy Mason to name a few.

ACTION CAMPS, THEATRE, PARTICIPATION
This summer’s theme ‘superstition’ brings all kinds of strange and bizarre action camps into the Garden, each one lovingly programmed by fellow gardeners and promising to captivate, charm, hypnotise, enchant and enthrall you. Here are just a few of the many, many camps you’ll find at the party this summer…
Open up the doors to discover what may be lurking behind. Located in a land of beasts Monsters Inkwill provide hours of daytime entertainment for Gardeners. Draw out your inner monsters and rid the Garden of your beasts.
But if the monsters unnerve you why not channel your creativity at The Bohemian Artists’ Studio – the aficionados of festival life drawing, return once more to Secret Garden Party. Strike a pose and be forever immortalised on canvas by our virtuoso artistes at an evenings’ entertainment worthy of the most refined and discerning of reprobates.
Tongue of toad and eye of cod; be sure to visit the Witches of Odd. Enter the witches’ lair into a world of magic, spell chanting, potion mixing, join in on a traditional binding spell and make a wish for your inner most desires to come true or even cast a spell to determine the fate of other gardeners.
Perhaps you might stumble across the unlucky No.13 Club, a very superstitious 80’s neon micro disco, perfect for a moment of superstitious solitude. Release all inhibitions and dance your heart out.
After years of burying all you Gardeners, Funeral Camp makes an epic return as the Cult of the Sturdy Virgins. Their ritualistic death methods have enhanced their own supernatural powers through the manipulation of dark energies. WHATEVER your gripe… they have the answer. Visit their Supernatural Hospital Camp, they’ve assured us their occult practises and ceremonies have been tried and tested. Enhance your spiritual deficits resulting in sense of alleviation.
ARTFUL BADGERS
Emerging from the mists of the deep dark Badger Woods the Artful Badgers underground campaign for world domination begins in earnest this year, as they march out roaring, to take on the new beautifully landscaped Amphitheatre. Here all manners of wild and unprecedented badger antics will pepper a program of their most diverse live music line-ups to date. Occult ceremonies, animal dance, pagan circus, bizarre performance art and wild fire shows, join their in-house team of immersive theatrics and ecstatic dancers to bring the woods alive with the shadows of joyful woodland creatures.
The Feral Fever DJ Stage will boast some of the most spectacular laser shows ever seen under a leafy canopy, with wild beats from an extraordinary line up of mystery superstar DJs. Heady Balearic rhythms, deep dance floor journeys and old school uplifting classics will be brought to life by a crystal clear system, our thumping dance crew and the flying wonders of aerialists suspended from our old man oak tree. Journeying on sound doesn't get better placed than this.
Badger Bingo returns to the homely bar space and the warm twangs of the northern bingo caller will make you at home in an appropriate realm of wrongness. And the lonely hearts need not go home empty handed amongst all the ecstatic joy, as Badger Dating returns to spread the Badger Love and help you break through any blocks to your eternal happiness with another.
The badger continues to help you break through on all levels, presenting mystical afternoons of their trademark WILD workshops: including Shamanic Journeying, 5 Rhythms Ecstatic Dance, Mask Making and Dance your Naked Truth: a small graze on the surface of our deeper shamanic selves – where better to explore that than in the warm womb of the woods.
All in all, the badgers intend not only for you to never leave the underworld of the badgers once you have entered, but that when you eventually do, you will be so thoroughly grounded, feralised, expressed, refreshed and enthralled that there will be no other way to put it than to say, "I got seriously badgered this weekend!'. Bring it on.
FEAST OF FOOLS
Roll up! Roll up! Roll up! Stroll around our fayreground imaginarium where Alkhemysts ply their trade & tricksters work their craft, where tattooed ladies rub shoulders with tarot readers & circus lads & bearded ladies vie for your attention. Come m’dearios & taste our wares… feast your eyes on our Hoochie Coochie girls, wet your whistles at the Honeymoon Tavern & be merry with our Tarts & Tramps. The legendary Feast of Fools has unleashed a delicious taster line-up for this summer.
The Burning Man Project has shown us the way when it comes to installation art in the Garden; free from the gallery and as interactive as possible. Once again, the Secret Arts Foundation has embraced this concept whole-heartedly and for the party this summer have pledged to fund and support art which is interactive in its approach, participatory in its social stance and emotive in its realisation.
This summer the Garden will be alive with interactive art created by some of the finest contemporary artists from across the Globe. There will be plenty of unique pieces commissioned especially for the party for Gardeners to discover, climb over, crawl under and dance around.
In previous years Secret Arts has championed projects such as the towering robots made from scrap; street art from Europe; shrines from San Fransico; Cartoon Confessionals from Tony Husband; giant floating islands that defied the laws of physics; tunnelled labyrinths; flocked treesand of course the infamous lake stage installations…. including a pirate ship; a blimp; a dragonfly; figure heads of the ages and many more…
Work is already in full swing for this summer’s art installations. More information on this summer’s incredible artists and collectives coming soon.
This video, filmed for Secret Arts during the weeks in the run up to last summer’s party, gives us a sneak peak into just a fraction of the hard work and love which went into last summer’s art installations.

FAMILY GARDENERS
There are lots of things for young Gardeners to see and do at the party too. There are family friendly action camps, theatre, art works and fairground rides dotted throughout the garden, as well as a dedicated kids camp which provides a fun, creative haven for young Gardeners. Some of our favourite workshops taking place in Kids Camp this summer include Aunty Dots magic science experiments & weather casting, Bling Your Thing craft space, supernatural Stick Men making, Mr Wolf Shadow Puppets and pizza making. There will also be plenty of theatre from the likes of the Flying Seagulls.

More electronic acts join Exit Festival
The impressive Dance Arena line-up gets even bigger and better with it's eclectic line up. Critically aclaimed act Knife Party are first up and will be performing on July 15th. A side project from Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, this Australian electro-house-dubstep duo launched to stratospheric heights after remixing Swedish House Mafia, pumping their high octane fuel injection to the public sonisphere, they are smashing dancefloors worldwide, and will for sure be tearing up the fortress walls in a similar fashion. Jacques Lu Cont, a man with many names – Les Rythmes Digitales, Paper Faces, Man With Guitar and Thin White Duke, gained the current super-popularity mostly thanks to his decade-long collaboration with Madonna, and whose renowned album "Confessions on a Dance Floor" was produced by none other than him. Jacques Lu Cont’s splendorous career has been crowned with three Grammys up to this date, thanks to his original scores as well as his remixes and will be performing on Thursday July 12th. Thursday will also feature Eats Everything, the British producer who has recently exploded in the underground house scene, made his mark on the famous Essential Mix on BBC Radio1, and is currently under Hot Creations, dirtybird, Hypercolour, Greco Roman to name a few labels. His tour bus will have to make another stop – at this year’s Exit Festival along with label mate American producer Claude Von Stroke, whose tracks "Deep Throat", sold in over 10,000 copies, and "Who's Afraid Of Detroit", turned him into a touring machine. His label, symbolically named "dirtybird" became the primary exporter of electronic music in the United States, with over 50 EPs released since the foundation in 2005. The same night Saturday 14th July, Benoit & Sergio start the proceedings with their inimitable take on house and techno, expect a juxtaposition of pristine production and lyricism which will prove why they are one of the most unique and interesting outfits in dance music today. They will be joined by German and London underground stalwarts, Tobi Neuman b2b Geddes. Stemming both from the uber cool underground scenes in Germany and London respectively, Tobi Neuman resident of Berlin’s Watergate and Weekend and Geddes heading mulletover, London’s biggest and longest running underground warehouse party. Both mix a myriad of music that develops its own soft, dark gravity, balancing on the fine, almost irrecognizable line between house and techno: sexy and friendly, finishing off the Saturday night perfectly.
After 2AM program traditionally welcomes some of the greatest Drum’n’ Bass and Dubstep scene. The second day of our festival features one of the leaders of the new d’n’b talents in Europe, and a star for Hospital Records, Netsky. We have enough time to prepare for his second studio album, starting with his latest single “Come Alive” which is due May 21. Drumsound & Bassline Smith, will also present their work at the festival on the second day. The British production team, consisting of Andrew Wright, Benjamin Wiggett (Drumsound), and Simon 'Bassline' Smith, who release their work under their very own Technique Recordings are BBC Radio 1’s favourites. They released their single “Close“ in August last year, which won the award for the Best Song and Best Video at this year’s “Official Drum & Bass Awards“. Both acts are featured by MC Dynamite, a globetrotter and the jungle, drum'n' bass, hip hop, dubstep and reggae dancefloor preacher. On July 14, After 2AM program hosts the Israeli Dubstep producer and DJ, Asaf Borger, hiding under the alias Borgore. A self-proclaimed “ young man following big dreams, a private beach and the olsen twins.“ classifies his musical genre, a mixture of drum beats with Heavy Metal influences as “Gorestep“. The last, but not the least, we welcome Goldie, on the last day of the festival. Goldie is an English musician, DJ, visual artist, actor and a celebrity, who will be accompanied by one of the most innovative and wanted MCs of the world, SP:MC.
The second-biggest Exit electronic music stage, Happynovisad, hot spot for the alternative electronic acts, is preparing this year’s programme for the fans of the most progressive musical genres. Friday, July 13 welcomes performers from the highly influential, top quality Hotflush Recordings label. The British producer, currently residing in Berlin, Sigha, is one of the leading techno producers of the label. Alongside these two icons, Happynovisad stage is, on Friday, also hosting Tim Van de Meutter a.k.a. Locked Groove, who carries his own signature – an explosive blend of industrial techno and a melancholic deep house which assign a star-status to him. Finally, another Hotflush baby, George Fitzgerald, famous for his original house-garage-techno-dubstep cocktail will make Friday 13th on Happynovisad unforgettable! Saturday, July 14 will see the dawn of a young Belfast-based producer Jack Hamill, who gained his popularity under the aliasSpace Dimension Controller. Claiming to be born in the 24th century, he returned through time, accidentally crashing his Electropod to be stuck here with nothing but presenting his funky electro sound. He will just have to stick with our outdated airplanes and dancefloors before he gets back to 2352.
Elektrana stage, the place of all jovial electro lovers, announces its marvellous and abundant line-up for this year, alongside the already announced Sneaky Sound System and When Saints Go Machine. Thursday, July 12 will see the appearance of a dancefloor favourite, Christian Strobe, an 80s music baby, who ended up as a child of indie music, cosmic house and nu-disco. A day later, Elektrana stage welcomes Thieves Like Us, a five-piece band who manages to combine post-punk, new wave, italo disco, synth pop, and yet sound so electro-poppish that it makes you wan to dance all night! The same day, the stage welcomes Greek musical genius Nikkon, whose opus is described as a chill-out Electro sound paired with dreamy female vocals who give his music an additional, deep and refined note.
The striking festival day, Saturday, will be reserved for Tapeaters. A Russian Electro-Pop/Funk duo formed in 2009 features a sound created by warm vintage synths, funky vibe and a vocal polyphony all in one big emotion. The same day, something completely different strikes the fortress – DAT Politics, one of the most important electro-exatic bands on the planet. They are characterized by a precisely-sharpened turbo pop mood, while their computers create some of the catchiest melodies you have ever danced to.
Franz + Shape, Detachments and A Terrible Splendour will crown the festival on the last day, Sunday, July 15. The unique sound of Franz + Shape is created from a mix of acid wave and electro music. Their live performances are packed with a great electro sound combined with synths, drums and samplers, and the crowded dancefloor is their natural habitat! The Detachments, led by a creative mind – an artist, graphic designer, DJ and actor hailing from Lancaster, Bastien Marshal, is an interesting post – post- electroclash specimen. Currently, they are preparing a new album which will be mixed by none other than Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order). Finally, tales of blackmailing, desperation, cruelty and hopelessness will be told by London’s MM Lyle and Martin Block, who are served together under the name A Terrible Splendour. They call their genre “new romantic cabaret“, and are inspired by the artistic creations from the likes of Automelodi, Fisherspooner, Visage and Gina X. It shouldn’t take a long time to figure out their sound – under a dark and gloomy synth pop veil.
