London’s celebrated music festival Uber One presents All Points East is excited to welcome the revered artist and inimitable live performer Loyle Carner, coming to Victoria Park on Saturday 17 August. Loyle co-curated the East, West and North Stages, and will be joined by an incredible supporting line-up revealed today: including André 3000, Lianne La Havas, Flying Lotus, Cymande, Glass Beams, berlioz (DJ set), Nubya Garcia, Songer, Lola Young, MRCY, Dana and Alden and Bricknasty. These huge names are in addition to previously announced special guests Nas, Ezra Collective, Sainté, Joe James, ENNY and Navy Blue. Best known as one half of the hip-hop duo OutKast, alongside rapper Big Boi, the legendary André 3000 is widely recognised for his unique and innovative approach to music, incorporating various genres into OutKast’s sound, including hip-hop, funk, soul, and jazz. André 3000 gained fame in the 1990s as OutKast released a series of critically acclaimed albums, such as ATLiens and Aquemini. The duo came into prominence with their 2003 double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which featured the global hit single ‘Hey Ya!’ and showcased André’s versatility, blending elements of R&B, funk, and pop. Last year, André 3000 shook the musical world with the release of New Blue Sun. His first solo debut album and first musical release in nearly two decades saw André 3000 switch out the singing and rapping he was known for with Outkast, to defy expectations with experimental flute playing. Co-produced with percussionist Carlos Niño, it also featured contributions from keyboardist Surya Botofasina and guitarist Nate Mercereau. Many of those featured on the record joined André for a run of US shows earlier this year, marking his first tour outside of Outkast – and we are extremely excited that he’s now bringing this show to the UK. All Points East will be his first UK show in a decade and the first place to hear the brilliant and critically-acclaimed instrumental album. Of the new surprise record, Pitchfork said “The rapper and now flautist’s debut solo album is an 87-minute devotional to new age, ambient jazz, and spiritual discovery. It’s beautiful, demanding, and among the most fascinating artistic left turns in recent memory.” English singer/songwriter and guitarist Lianne La Havas arrived in the early 2010s with a mostly acoustic and hushed hybrid of alternative folk and soul. Influenced by the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, she found success with the release of her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, which reached No. 5 in the UK and earned her a nomination for the BBC Sound of 2012 poll. She has continued to refine her increasingly distinctive style with Blood (2015), a No. 2 UK hit nominated for a Grammy, and her third LP, Lianne La Havas (2020). Steve Ellison, known to the world as Flying Lotus, is a Grammy-nominated musician, filmmaker, and founder of the Brainfeeder label. A sonic and visual storyteller, we’ve heard and seen the sights and sounds of the worlds he’s built over the course of six genre-redefining studio albums, a collection of surreal music videos, and through his own film projects like the experimental horror comedy anthology Kuso. In a revitalised LA music scene that saw hip-hop, jazz, a burgeoning beat culture, and electronic music co-mingling, Flying Lotus was at the centre of it all – he lent his talents to transplants too, collaborating with and influencing friends and fellow iconoclasts including Mac Miller and Donald Glover, all the while bringing the sounds of the LA scene from the fringes to the mainstream. Described as “spiritual…versatile…smooth, sweet and very different”, no-one has yet to sum up the unique sound of Cymande in one simple word or phrase. Nyah-Rock, Afro-Rock, even Calypso Rock have been used to categorise their music, but Cymande is just simply Cymande. Formed over 40 years ago by Steve Scipio and Patrick Patterson, the band was made up of nine self-taught Caribbean born, London based musicians. Cymande, who continue to reach new audiences and are being embraced by yet another breed of fan, are currently working on new music to be released later in 2024 – let’s hope All Points East gets a first listen! Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Glass Beams have attracted attention not only for their swirling riffs – a mix of hypnotic Western psychedelia and the style and instrumentation of Indian music – but for their striking on-stage personas as well, hidden behind gold-plated masks. It wasn’t until shortly before the release of the group’s second EP, 2024’s Mahal, that the band’s leader chose to make his identity known: songwriter/guitarist Rajan Silva. As the founding member, Silva formed a trio with two as-yet unidentified musicians to form Glass Beams. This special Saturday in Victoria Park will also see a DJ set from the mysterious berlioz, plus a performance from one of the progenitors of 21st century British jazz, Nubya Garcia. Also on the bill is Songer, Lola Young, MRCY, Dana and Alden, and Bricknasty. Loyle Carner has graced massive festival shows and venues across the UK and beyond in 2023, with the Wembley OVO Arena in London a career standout. This was followed by a string of packed out festival appearances over the summer, including a headline slot at Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, Primavera Sound and most recently, the legendary Royal Albert Hall. All Points East follows a string of rapidly sold-out shows across the capital, and will be a continuation and evolution of his esteemed live performance legacy. With multiple Mercury and Brits nominations, NME Awards and appearances in global brand campaigns, Carner has had an undoubtedly meteoric rise to the top, culminating with his critically lauded 2022 album hugo charting at No. 3 in the UK album chart. Known for immensely engaging live performances and collaborations with other notable acts, Carner played a significant role in the UK rap scene’s growth and evolution. His impact on music, his dedication to important causes and his continued contributions to the industry have solidified his reputation as a respected and influential figure in British music. With over 790 million global streams – 338 million from the UK – over 657,000 album sales, more than 40 million YouTube views and over 800,000 social media followers, Loyle Carner continues to stake his claim as one of the most accomplished British rappers in history. The All Points East performance is his only London live date for 2024 and is going to be his biggest yet. Each year, All Points East delivers an epic line up of world class headliners, exceptionally curated supporting line ups and big exclusives. 2024 will be no different – with headliners Kaytranada (Friday 16 August), Loyle Carner (Saturday 17 August), Mitski (Sunday 18 August), LCD Soundsystem (Friday 23 August), APE presents Field Day (Saturday 24 August) and The Postal Service / Death Cab For Cutie (Sunday 25 August). All Points East’s free community midweek entertainment, In the NBHD, is back for 2024. Including an outdoor cinema, live music, sports and wellbeing, kids and family activities, and much more – full details to come soon! |

Sonar adds Flying Lotus, Simian Mobile Disco and more!
A double helping of Flying Lotus
The man behind the Californian Brainfeeder label and an artist admired all over the world, Flying Lotus is an essential benchmark in today's hip-hop and electronica, capable of blending all types of genres within his songs to create a highly recognizable style all his own, at the point where jazz, psychedelia and abstract beats converge. He is just about to release his new album on Warp, and at Sónar we can enjoy a double helping of his talent, with two shows at Sónar by Day: one heading the Brainfeeder showcase and another as part of the line-up on the SonarDôme stage curated by Red Bull Music Academy (he was an Academy participant in 2006).
Emerging talent of 2012
The Canadians Trust have emerged as one of the surprises of 2012 with the dark and overpowering pop of their (deservedly) acclaimed debut album. The same is true of Russia's Nina Kraviz, the new star of European electronica, who joins the line-up presented by Red Bull Music Academy to present house gems from her first and highly praised self-titled album. The AmericanStar Slinger, meanwhile, is beginning to set tongues wagging in increasingly wider circles with his original sessions and mixtapes covering house, hip-hop and electronic syncopation.
Sonar presents the world premiere of Mostly Robot
Soul explorer and innovator of electronic live performances Jamie Lidell; the prestigious experimentalist Tim Exile; finger-drumming virtuoso Jeremy Ellis; New York’s 2x DMC World Champ, DJ Shiftee; and the keyboardist and regular member of Lidell's band Mister Jimmy. They are the 5 members ofMostly Robot, the new band conceived by Native Instruments, who will be introduced as a world premiere at Sónar by Day. Truly ‘live’, each musician plays independently of each other – instruments are synced only by the human element, in the tradition of inspiring jazz concerts. The Sónar showcase is also a rare moment to catch a glimpse of yet unreleased song material from individual band members. The music will be accompanied by a visual concept from Berlin’s extraordinary collective Pfadfinderei.
Complete line-ups of the BBC Radio 1 showcase and SonarDôme stage by Red Bull Music Academy
For a second year running BBC Radio 1 have joined forces with Sonar and programmed a very special line up curated by Annie Mac. Annie will host theBBC Radio 1 Presents stage on June 15th and BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix will broadcast live from 0200-0600 (EST) (0100-0500 BST) with the live show from Simian Mobile Disco (presenting their new record, "Unpatterns") and DJ sets from Annie Mac herself on the decks , the duo of French DJs Brodinskivs Gesaffelstein and British beatmakers duo Jack Beats. For more information www.bbc.co.uk/radio
In addition to Flying Lotus and Nina Kraviz, the line-up on the SonarDôme stage curated by Red Bull Music Academy is now complete with the addition of two more acts: Italy-based psychedelic disco trio Esperanza (a new signing to the acclaimed Gomma label) and the new project of Swiss DJ and producers Faktor and Clinic, Radiorifle. The Red Bull Music Academy, a world-travelling music school which will stop in New York for its 15th yearly edition this September, has been curating the SonarDôme since 2009, with previous editions featuring artists such as Katy B, Brandt Brauer Frick and Pilooski's Discodeine.
New Spanish additions
Sónar once again selects the most relevant and interesting outfits on the Spanish scene today for the festival's audience.

LMFAO, The XX, Paolo Nutini join Sziget Festival 2012 lineup
Joining them also are Indie revelations Ting Tings, Norway’s coolest and sexiest Katzenjammer, LA underground hip-hop guru Flying Lotus, the soulful and inspiring Fink and the one and only Anna Calvi. All this and a lot more awaits fans from all over the world this summer, between 6-13 August in Budapest.
The 20th edition of Sziget Festival could give quite some excuse for getting lost in memories, but the Sziget team has always tried to present new stuff and keeps on doing so. Probably this is the only programming method that works for an event that is the unofficial world champion in the category of internationality – once again expecting fans from over 60 countries to the well know Danube island.
Need more insight?
Redfoo and SkyBlu are without any doubts the coolest party icons of these days. They teamed up to create LMFAO (you might wanna check what these five letters actually mean) and took over the planet with their unavoidable Party Rock Anthem. LMFAO is a role model for young kids around the world and started a tidal wave of shuffling in 2011.
London-based The xx have shown their potentials already in 2009 when releasing their debut LP. Their homemade album became platinum and created a huge buzz in some of the highest valued English media, while also earning them a Mercury Prize (given by the British Phonographic Industry).
Paolo Nutini has some Italian origins – hard to deny it with such a name – but lives and works in Scotland, and counts as one of the most talented singer-songwriters and a true titan of the folk-blues scene. 2006 saw the release of his debut album, These Streets, rocketing him to the top 3 of the British charts. His second LP came out in 2009 with the title Sunny Side Up.
"If The Libertines defined the start of the decade and Arctic Monkeys its middle, then Glasvegas are almost certainly going to define its end and beyond" – as stated by the New Musical Express. The impact of the Glasgow-based band in the UK and success of their debut album did not go unnoticed in North America either. See them for yourself at Sziget.
The Ting Tings means groovy guitar pop in a duo format, a joint venture of Katie White and Jules De Martino, the two members of the British indie combo. They have already sold millions of their first LP and are now promoting their 2012 Ivor Novello Award-winning record, Sounds of Nowhere.
The name Katzenjammer might awake memories of bad hangovers, but the four hot girls from the cold north are anything but depressed. The Oslo-based band is renown for cool and characteristic singing, playing more than 25 different instruments and mixing genres such as folk, pop, rock, country and Balkan music.
Flying Lotus is one of the most popular acts of the experimental electronic scene and a true representative of the LA underground hip-hop culture. Two years ago he earned an Independent Music Award with his third album, Cosmogramma, then backed it up with another IMA for the video of his 2011 single, MmmHmm.
Fin Greenall, aka Fink is a singer-songwriter from the UK, mixing his producer skills with romantic, human and thoughtful pieces and charismatic performances. He released five LPs during the last ten years, amongst them the 2011 album, Perfect Darkness, highly praised by many, including The Guardian.
Anna Calvi is another exciting and inspiring representative of the UK singer-songwriter scene, also proven by her Mercury Prize and BRIT Awards nominations in 2011 and 2012. Many think she’s the biggest prospect of the genre since Patti Smith, so you are right to expect something special from her also at Sziget.

Pokes; the Project KTL, formed by Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O)))- & Peter Rehberg (Pita), two of the most important sound experimenters of today; the Dutch DJ and moombathon king Munchi; the Argentine digital cumbia duo Super Guachin; and the Brazilian Nedu Lopes –renowned DJ on the country’s electronic circuit– and Criolo –influent beat maker and hip hop renovator– and the partnership of Muti Randolph & Clara Sverner, with a classical piano show with interactive visuals.
