Everywhere festival 2015 review!

An indoor playground for electronic enthusiasts, Everywhere Festival, the largest multi-venue dance

event in the East Midlands returned to the clubs of Nottingham for its third successive year on May 3rd.

With an eclectic selection of artists and DJs, the tastes of many were catered for with dollop

presenting acts to satisfy the most passionate of electronic, house, techno, grime and garage lovers.

Alongside hardened veterans of the electronic and dance scene such as chart-topper Route 94 and

Leeds’ Hot Since 82 performing at Forum, came newcomers such as garage and grime goddess Flava

D adding a sense of rhythmic bass to Rescue Rooms.

International talent came from Cyril Hahn at Rock City and Motor City Drum Ensemble at Stealth.

Rescue Rooms set off Everywhere 2015 with a day party from 2pm, switching at night to a line-up

with an urban edge, with MelĂ© concluding the evening with a bass-fuelled set, contrasting the

infectious house and techno pumping throughout the other venues.

It was Rock City’s main hall that attracted the largest crowds of the evening, as the masses crammed

themselves onto the dance floor and along the balcony.

Redlight gave a sterling performance, driving anthemic beats throughout with popular hits such as

Gold Teeth & 9TS ensuring the crowd continued to beat the air throughout his set.

“Notts was sick,” he said upon posting a picture of the audience after his set to his Instagram

account.

Followed by highlight of the evening Hannah Wants, who kept the masses of 20-somethings

shuffling on their feet with her cleverly driven DJ set, a seamless mix of renowned original work such

as Rhymes and clever remixes of old-school classics such as Renegade Master.

Her bold determination towards the end of the night left many a sweltering and heaving mess.

Aggravated bar staff and bouncers tried to stay optimistic as dawn approached and sweat began to

drip from the booming speakers upon the waning crowds.

Stealth offered a wind down from the smoke machines, flashing lights and visuals, as the survivors

swayed to the beats of Chunky, Paleman and Loefah, proving a more calming finish to the evening.

With bass pumping through the mind, bodies and souls of revellers for eight hours straight, most will

still have a ringing in their ears today.

For the partygoers of the Midlands, it is a good thing that it is a bank holiday weekend.

Y Not Festival adds indie rock legends Johnny Marr and Ocean Colour Scene to 10th birthday line-up

Y Not has added some indie, rock and pop legends in the form of ex-Smiths man Johnny Marr and Ocean Colour Scene, as the Derbyshire-based festival celebrates its 10th year in style.

Following last month's announcement, which included Snoop Dogg, Primal Scream and Basement Jaxx as the festival's three headliners, the festival has thrown in yet more iconic talent to the mixture for the weekend of July 31st-August 2nd.

Marr comes to the festival fresh from receiving an NME award for 'Godlike Genius', and while he made his name with 'The Smiths' and to younger audiences as guitarist with 'The Cribs', his solo catalogue is bursting full of punchy tunes. Ocean Colour Scene themselves have been celebrating their 25th anniversairy, and will finish their summer at the festival.

Other additions to the line-up come in the form of  Florida's ska-punk faves Less Than Jake, and another American act, indie trio We Are Scientists. Y Not favourites, Reverend & the Makers return after a few years away, while hard rock bands like Don Broco, Augustines and Young Guns add another element to the line-up.

Nottingham's very own Indiana adds a tinge of electro-pop, with The Lancashire Hotpots bringing comedy folk to the stage. Japanese psychedelic act Bo Ningen, alt-R&B and 'Game of Thrones' actor Raleigh Ritchie, with Hacktivist adding their own brand of rap and metal to proceedings.

Mancunian grunge band Nine Black Alps and Sheffield stars Rolo Tomassi keep things alive and kicking, while The Bohicas, rockers LTNT and Solemn Sun add more rock to the line-up. Blues singer Kim Churchill and the soulful Jake Isaacs add a softer touch to proceeders, while Zoax round off the latest line-up announcement with their brand of hardcore metal.

Y Not Festival 2015 also has acoustic stars Saint Raymond and Nick Mulvey, rockers We Are the Ocean and Pulled Apart By Horses. BBC Sound of 2015 shortlisters, Slaves are also on the bill, as are Rae Morris, Honeyblood, Gengahr, Allusondrugs and KIng Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys among other acts. Tickets are priced from £89.50 and can be found at Ynotfestivals.co.uk.

Disclosure, Rudimental, Grace Jones and Fatboy Slim announced for Parklife Festival 2015!

Parklife Festival have announced the line-up for their hotly-anticipated 2015 edition on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June at Manchester’s Heaton Park. Showcasing an incredible selection of the best chart-topping live acts and world leading DJs, confirmed acts include Disclosure, Ben Howard, Rudimental, Nas, George Ezra, Fatboy Slim, Grace Jones, Wu-Tang Clan, Caribou, Metronomy, Mark Ronson and Jessie Ware – all of whom will cater to over 140,000 music fans across the two days.

Two of the UK's hottest dance acts, Disclosure and Rudimental, will head up the festival line-up, which will also feature one of the UK’s biggest dance music exports in Fatboy Slim. A rare performance from iconic singer and model Grace Jones is also confirmed –famed for her pioneering artistry that constantly blurs the line between performance and art.

Hip-hop royalty Nas will be performing tracks from his seminal album Illmatic at this year’s festival – as well as Wu-Tang Clan & The Roots, plus young claimant to the throne Earl Sweatshirt also featuring. James Bay – named Critics Choice 2015 by the Brit Awards panel – is also amongst the first live artists announced and will be joined by Ben Howard and George Ezra, alongside leftfield popstars Metronomy and Jungle.

Legendary electronic music pioneer Richie Hawtin will also be heading to Manchester alongside Hot Creations label head Jamie Jones, Radio 1 tastemaker Annie Mac and chart topper Duke Dumont (playing live) to spearhead a stellar DJ line-up across the two days. With appearances from the likes of Nicolas Jaar, Seth Troxler, Maya Jane Coles, Eats Everything and Hannah Wants – plus rising stars Lapsley, Novelist and Blonde – already confirmed, Parklife’s 2015 DJ program is shaping up to be it’s most varied and expansive to date.

The eclectic nature of this year’s line up is only bolstered by the number of artist-curated arenas across the weekend. Soulection affiliated superstar Kaytranada has added his own personal touch to Parklife this year by curating his own Kaytranada and Friends stage. The same honour has also been bestowed to drum & bass veteran Andy C as he presents his label RAM, as well as MK bringing his Area 10 brand to Heaton Park. Reggae, Dub and Dancehall royalty David Rodigan will also be further cementing his legendary status in the UK by bringing his world-renowned Ram Jam party to The Temple arena – the largest of the festival’s stages. This very special Super Ram Jam comes complete with an all-star line up, including Nas performing his seminal ‘Illmatic’ album in full.

Having launched back in 2010, Parklife is curated by the same set of promoters behind Manchester’s game-changing series The Warehouse Project, who have adapted the festival year on year to make it one of the UK’s most significant music events – all set in the iconic surroundings of Heaton Park.

Now five years since the festival’s launch, Parklife also remains one of the best value festivals in the UK – with weekend tickets at just £89.50 and day tickets at £54.50. Festival goers also have the opportunity to purchase VIP packages priced at £145 for a weekend ticket and £85 per day – which unlocks a range of luxury offerings such as fast access to the festival, a private viewing platform over the temple stage and exclusive areas from a host of national club brands.

With 10,000 pre-registration tickets selling out in minutes and the next wave of tickets set for release on Friday 13th February 2015, Parklife’s fifth anniversary is on course to deliver their best year yet.
