The London-born and Devon-raised Ben Howard comes to the festival riding a wave of momentum that has taken the folk star from the cosy venues of south west England to festival stages the world over. Having signed to Island Records in 2011, Howard has since gone on to be nominated for the coveted Mercury Prize for his album Every Kingdom, and later going on to win the Best Newcomer and Best British Solo Male Artist at the 2013 BRIT Awards. He was also nominated for the Ivor Novello for Best Album in the same year.
This years Brit Award winner Ellie Goulding will headline the Jersey Live Festival and follows in the footsteps of previous headliners, The Prodigy, Paul Weller, Fatboy Slim, Kasabian & Snow Patrol.
With five UK top five singles to add to her list of achievements, she comes to Jersey Live as a true star, and is an artist with a genuine depth to her creative output. Her inspirations are diverse with intrepid artists such as Bjork, Imogen Heap, Lauryn Hill, Joni Hill and Kanye West adding to the melting pot of her influences, her style is one that perfectly fuses electronica with her folk roots and her voice is at once exhilarating, sorrowful, childlike and charged with emotion. It’s truly an original one, as the Jersey Live audience will no doubt testify to come August 30th.
Opening the Main Stage on the Saturday (31st August) of the festival are London-based art pop four-piece Teddy. Formed in Jersey by Tom Falle and Eddy Bailhache, their influences include Talking Heads, Radiohead and Arcade Fire, and the outfit combine an experimental sensibility with a passion for clever pop tunes.
Meanwhile over in the JT Arena, several Jersey Live favourites return; pop-punk outfit and previous Main Stagers Brave Yesterday appear, as do UK-based ‘math-punk’ band Pirate Video Company – both of whom were booked for prestigious slots at Glastonbury Festival in 2011. Another returning act are former Junior Battle of the Bands winners Alfresco Bandits, and making their festival debuts are prog-rockersHarlequin Knights (featuring members of Velofax, The Author and Inside Job) and singer-songwriter Bob Baker, and the stage will opened on Saturday 31st August once again by the winners of the Junior Battle of the Band.
The new Folklore Stage, headlined by The Neville Staple Band and Dry the River, sees Jerriaise pop-folk band Badlabeques bring their uptempo and updated traditional Jersey-French songs to kick off proceedings on the Saturday, whilst local cult heroes, the always entertaining (and never without tongue firmly in cheek) Sergeant Pipon’s Lonely Hearts Club Band finally make their long-overdue debut Jersey Live appearance.
The Hospitality Stage, whose lineup features a number of exclusive live, DJ and standup comedy and spoken word sets, is opened by singer-songwriter Laura Butlin (Saturday 31st August) and last year’s Spring Spectacular winner and Main Stage opener, the super-talented fourteen year-old MontyTaft opening the Sunday bill.
Finally, the Full Flow Locale Dance Tent, curated by local DJ Griff, returns to showcase the best of Jersey’s DJ talent. A relatively recent addition to Jersey Live, making its first appearance at the festival in 2010, the tent is now a staple part of the festival, and this year’s highlights include sets from dubsteppers Schema, Hip Hop/funk/breaks duo Fuzzbox Inc and Jersey Live co-founder Warren Le Sueur, as well as numerous other DJs spanning electronic genres from drum & bass to techno and everything inbetween.
Set in the lush countryside surrounds of the Parish of Trinity, Jersey Live is the UK’s southernmost festival and with more sunshine than any other part of the British Isles, and one of the warmest, friendliest festival audiences you could hope to encounter, it’s the perfect festival destination.
Keep your eyes peeled for more line up announcements across the seven stages, to be made in the coming weeks! For more information, please visit www.jerseylive.org.uk
Co-organiser Warren Holt: “We’ve always felt it’s important to showcase local artists at Jersey Live, not simply to give them a leg up but because there are genuine musical talents on this small nine-by-five rock of ours who deserve the opportunity to perform alongside established international acts. There are some great returning acts like Pirate Video Company and Monty Taft, as well as some new bands that haven’t performed here before. I think anyone who’s seen Sergeant Pipon in action before will be putting an immediate circle around their name on the line up! We’re very nearly done with the line up, and will be announcing the last few names in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!”
Tamara O’Brien, Head of Marketing & Brand at JT: “Promoting home grown talent is an idea very close to our hearts at JT, and we are delighted that some very talented local performers are going to have the opportunity of playing at Jersey Live at the JT Arena. We are proud to be supporting this fantastic community event and just like everyone else, we can’t wait for it to begin.”

Joining a Saturday (31st August) Main Stage line up that already includes Fatboy Slim, The Cribs and Clean Bandit are disco legends and one of the most talked-about groups of 2013, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers. One of the defining artists of the 1970s disco explosion, New Yorkers Chic are true icons of pop music, with some of the most instantly recognisable disco classics of the 20th Century including ‘Le Freak’, ‘Everybody Dance’, ‘I Want Your Love’ and ‘Good Times’. Cited as an influence by such a diverse range of artists as Queen, Blondie, Daft Punk, Duran Duran and The Smiths’ Johnny Marr, Chic’s legacy is very much secured and the band were inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Guitarist Nile Rodgers, who founded the band in 1976, went on to become one of the world’s most successful producers, producing Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’, David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’, Sister Sledge’s ‘We Are Family’, to name just a few, and this year added his magic, as guitarist, to the biggest hit single of 2013, Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ – a collaboration that has exposed Rodgers and Chic to a whole new generation of fans. We’re ecstatic to have Rodgers and Chic bringing a touch of New York disco glamour to the Jersey Live Main Stage.
Another addition to the Main Stage’s Saturday line up is folk singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt, who made her Jersey Live debut at last year’s festival. The 18 year-old Scottish musician has enjoyed a huge year subsequently, embarking on her second UK headline tour last winter and releasing three EPs with Island Records, leading to her biggest chart success to date, her second single ‘Stay Out’ which reached number 21 in the UK Singles Chart in April this year. Having been catapulted to national attention after supporting Ed Sheeran and Example (who discovered her acoustic version of his track ‘Stay Awake’ on Youtube), on tours in 2011 and 2012, Nina has this year truly come into her own as an artist and performer. Her heartfelt lyrics, pure voice and breezy, infectious melodies are sure to be given a warm welcome to Jersey Live again this year, and we’re certainly delighted to have her back.
Set in the lush countryside surrounds of the Parish of Trinity, Jersey Live is the UK’s southernmost festival and with more sunshine than any other part of the British Isles, and one of the warmest, friendliest festival audiences you could hope to encounter, it’s the perfect festival destination.

Jersey Live Festival with JT celebrates its 10th anniversary: 31st August – 1st September at the Royal Jersey Showground, Jersey
SUBJECT TO ORGANISERS GAINING THE BAILIFF'S PERMISSION
Jersey Live Festival returns this summer, supported for the 8th year by headline sponsors JT, for its 10th anniversary event. Following the recent announcements that Bastille and Gabrielle Aplin will join the Sunday (1st September) Main Stage bill, they announce the latest wave of artists that complete the Main Stage line up for that day.
First up are Coventry indie rockers The Enemy, who return to Jersey Live after having first appeared here at the 2007 event. The trio return as seasoned indie stars, with three UK Top 10 albums under their belt (2007’s We’ll Live and Die in These Towns, 2009’s Music for the People and last year’s Streets in the Sky) and more than their fair share of sell out tours, unforgettable festival performances and tours alongside British rock legends to speak of. Fronted by Tom Clarke, The Enemy’s Jam, Oasis and Rolling Stones-influenced brand of rock n’ roll has rightly gained them a reputation as one of the most ferociously exciting and honest bands plying their trade in the UK today.
Completing Sunday’s Main Stage line up are Los Angeles guitar n’ drums duo Deap Vally aka Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, whose blistering brand of scuzzy, in-your-face garage rock has drawn comparisons with The White Stripes and Led Zeppelin. Since exploding on to the UK scene in 2012, Deap Vally have gone on to perform at the Reading and Latitude festivals, support The Vaccines on tour and in December the band opened for Muse on several dates of their European tour. Their debut single ‘End of the World’ was selected as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’ on his Radio One show, and their debut album Sistrionix is released on Island Records on June 24th.
With the Sunday Main Stage line up now complete, we can also announce the latest addition to the Hospitality Stage line up. Joining John Cooper Clarke, Craig Charles and many more is comedian Simon Evans. A mainstay on the UK standup circuit, his appearances on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Live at the Apollo have made him a household name in recent years, and a cynical, sarcastic style has seen him lauded by influential comedy review site Chortle for his ‘sharp, acidic barb’ and as ‘a rich delight’.

Jersey Live Festival returns this summer, supported for the 8th year by headline sponsors JT, for its 10th anniversary event. This year celebrates a decade of events that has seen the likes of Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Plan B,Paul Weller, Dizzee Rascaland many more grace the shores of Jersey for the 10,000 capacity festival, and following the recent announcements of legendary dance producer Fatboy Slim and Example as the festival’s Main Stage headliners, we are delighted to announce that anthemic indie sensations Bastille will join the festival bill, performing on Sunday 1st September.
The London band may have only formed under three years ago, but their recent rise to fame has been a steep one, with their February single ‘Pompeii’ released to huge demand, peaking at number two in the singles charts and their debut album Bad Blood rocketing straight to top of the UK album charts upon its release in March. Comprised of singer and songwriter Dan Smith, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris Wood, Bastille formed in 2010 and have since toured with Emeli Sande and Two Door Cinema Club, and performed at festivals including Reading and Glastonbury. Their richly textured, blissfully melancholic and electronic-tinged rock is at once rapturously anthemic – drawing comparisons the likes of Coldplay – whilst straying away from being anything like formulaic. Their rise seems set to continue throughout 2013, with them joining Muse as support on their “2nd Law” stadium tour this summer, and their own recently announced autumn tour selling out instantly – including two dates at the 5,000 capacity Brixton o2 Academy that sold out in just EIGHT minutes.

Following the announcement that legendary dance producer Fatboy Slim will headline the Main Stage on the Saturday (31st August) of the festival, we are delighted to now reveal Jersey’s Live’s Sunday night (1st September) Main Stage headliner as chart-topping rapper Example.
Example, real name Elliott Gleave, makes his Jersey Live debut as a certified star; with two chart-topping singles and a chart-topping album (2011’s Playing in the Shadows) under his belt, Example has truly made the step into A-list territory, and with a reputation for a live show that transforms any arena or festival into the ultimate party, he’s a headliner befitting of Jersey Live’s 10th anniversary event.
With the Main Stage headliners in place, we’re pleased to announce the latest wave of confirmed artists for the Hospitality, Folklore and Dance Stages. First up is hotly tipped twenty year-old singer-songwriter Lewis Watson, recently signed to Warner Brothers Records, who will perform on the Folklore Stage and JT Live Lounge Stage over the weekend; legendary performance poet John Cooper Clarke performs on the Folklore and Hospitality Stages; The Specials frontman/singer Neville Staple performs on the Folklore Stage with the Neville Staple Band, and will also perform an acoustic set on the Hospitality Stage; last but by no means least, counterculture icon Howard Marks will be reading his favourite children’s stories on the Folklore Stage on the Saturday 31stAugust and will deliver a ‘grownup’ spoken word set on the Hospitality Stage on Sunday 1st September; finally, the latest addition to the Dance Stage Saturday lineup is beatboxer extraordinaire and residing World Loopstation Champion Shlomo.

This year’s first Main Stage headliner can now be revealed as the legendary dance producer Fatboy Slim, who will top the Main Stage bill on Saturday 31st August.
Co-organiser Warren Le Sueur said:
“I’m ecstatic that we’ve been able to confirm Fatboy Slim as our Saturday night headliner. We’ve seen plenty of huge electronic acts over the past decade at Jersey Live, so it’s perfect to have an iconic legend top the bill at our 10th anniversary celebration. Fatboy Slim is a world headliner and he’s the perfect artist to make this years festival our most memorable yet! and with a huge stage production to accompany the music, we expect him to do just that. We’ve confirmed plenty of other acts across the six stages, which we’ll be announcing over the next few weeks. Can’t wait for Jersey Live 2013!”
