Tom Jones, Little Mix and more added to British Summer Time Hyde Park

Fresh from the latest hit series of the BBC’s The Voice, the incredible Sir Tom Jones headlines.  Tom is one of Britain’s greatest ever vocalists, with an illustrious history, stretching way back to the 1960s.

Sir Tom Jones:

"I love playing in Hyde Park, it's such a beautiful place and so many of the greats have played there.  There is a real sense of musical history and a fantastic atmosphere that comes with playing in the middle of a great London park on a wonderful summer evening."

This summer, Boyzone return to the stage to perform their biggest hits.  With 20 UK top 40 singles, 6 UK Number 1s and 5 Number 1 albums, along with 4 Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary Song, Ronan, Mikey, Shane and Keith are one of Ireland’s most successful exports and best-loved bands.

Boyzone:

There's no bigger gig than Hyde Park and no better day out than playing British Summer Time alongside Sir Tom Jones.

Little Mix are the biggest girl band in the world right now and take to the Great Oak Stage after dominating the pop charts since winning X Factor in 2011; the first group ever to win the show.  They have gone on to bag 2 UK Number 1 singles with ‘Cannonball’ and ‘Wings’ and sell 4 million singles worldwide.

Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne have been in the US recording their new album and are ecstatic to be returning to the UK to play such a large crowd in historic surroundings.

Little Mix:

Wow, Hyde Park  so many amazing artists have played there and to be on a line up with Sir Tom Jones is a true honour.  We cant wait to see all The Mixers in the summer sun. And its Perries 21st birthday a few days before, so we will be celebrating in style.

10cc seemingly appeared out of nowhere in 1972 with their eponymous debut album.  They made an immediate impact, with a sound that was both commercial and substantial. Not only did they deliver a string of enormous hits, they won critical credibility everywhere they went, with songs such as ‘I’m Not In Love’, ‘Dreadlock Holiday’ and ‘Robber Bullets’ that have stood the test of time.

And The Bootleg Beatles, the most famous tribute act in the world, will spark a mass sing-a-long of the Fab Four’s greatest hits.

Horrible Histories, Shaun The Sheep, Mr Men Little Miss, Go!Go!Go! and more!

Horrible Histories are back at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park by popular demand: with multiple performances of their ‘Loathsome London’ theatre show.  Don't miss this horrible history of London with the nasty bits left in!

From Aardman, the creators of Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep along with his flock are being herded to Hyde Park for Championsheeps Live!  Kids and fun loving grown-ups can join Shaun and his farmyard friends for a sports day like no other with activities throughout the day including Shirley’s Pie-athlon, the Free Range Egg & Chick Race, a Naughty Pigs Sack Race and much more…

Plus, for musical kids, there is Go!Go!Go!, Nick Jnr’s resident pop group, spreading their own brand of sunshine over British Summer Time.

All the family will enjoy everything summer has to offer with an array of critically acclaimed food outlets, plus a Carnival area with performances for all.

Pet Shop Boys set for Bingley Music Live + more announced

Bingley Music Live festival may just have secured the festival coup of 2014. The 16,000 capacity, 3 day festival in Yorkshire has the legendary Pet Shop Boys, who have sold over 50 million records worldwide, as one of their headliners this summer. Pet Shop Boys have only announced 5 UK shows for 2014 and the Yorkshire festival is not only one of the dates, but the only festival.

Headlining the other nights will be chart topping hip-hop artist Example and Yorkshire heroes Shed Seven in their home county as they approach their 25th anniversary. Three times Brit Award winning Gaz Coombes of Supergrass will be appearing as Special Guest.

This year, Bingley Music Live has a more electic range of artists and genres than ever before and promises the most complete lineup in its history.

Highlights include Gorgon City and MNEK (fresh from their joint top five smash ‘Ready For Your Love’), the phenomenal Naughty Boy and festival favourites Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene.

Singer songwriters Chloe Howl and John Lennon McCullagh will join the lineup. Chloe was nominated in the BBC Sound of 2014 and Brit Awards Critics Choice, while John was signed to the new 359 Music label by Alan McGee, the man responsible for Oasis and 2013 headliners Primal Scream.

The Pet Shop Boys are the most successful UK electronic act and duo of all time, with a career spanning over 30 years. They have clocked up no less than 42 Top 30 singles and 22 Top 10 UK singles hits.

The six times Grammy nominees have won three Brit Awards, including the 2009 award for outstanding Contribution to Music Award. The Ivor Novello Outstanding Contribution to Pop Music and the 2013 Q Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music are just two more of the band’s many accolades.

Hits include ‘West End Girls’ (voted Song of the Decade by six million BBC listeners), ‘It’s a Sin’, ‘Go West’, ‘Always on My Mind’, ‘Rent’, ‘Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)’ and the Dusty Springfield accompanied classic, ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This?’.

Example returns to BML after first appearing in 2010 and is the first artist to ever return as a headliner. Elliot Gleave (his real name) hit the big time with his second album 'Won't Go Quietly' which peaked at number 4 on the UK album charts. This saw two top 10 singles – 'Won't Go Quietly' and 'Kickstarts'.

Yorkshire’s favourite sons, Shed Seven, tore up the Britpop scene in the mid-90s and amassed no less than fifteen Top 40 singles and four Top 40 albums, acquiring a loyal and dedicated fanbase along the way. In 1996, singer Rik Witter and the band had more hits than any other act that year in the UK! Anthems ‘Getting Better’, ‘Going For Gold’ and ‘Chasing Rainbows’ have stood the test of time.

The very best of new talent is represented with acts like Bipolar Sunshine, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Eliza and the Bear, The Wytches and We are Catchers, recently signed to the Arctic Monkeys label.

Night Engine will put in an appearance, having supported the Kaiser Chiefs and The 1975 last year, enjoying comparisons to Bowie, as will D/C and the Mamas and Papas and Everley Brothers inspired Champs. Etta Bond, the first signing to Labrinth’s new Odd Child label, is yet another of the artists set to do business in 2014 alongside Joel Compass. Notorious DJ team Ultimate Power and respected music journalist and DJ, Simon Price, will be DJing during some of the main stage changeovers. Many more artists will be released in the coming weeks.

This year's event is to be held on 29, 30 and 31 August. It’s the North's last big party of the summer and is incredible value for money at £49 plus booking fee for the three-day festival – over four times cheaper than some of the region’s festivals. Previous acts have included Nile Rodgers and Chic, Primal Scream, Jake Bugg, Calvin Harris, Nero, Editors, Cribs, DJ Fresh and Doves.

Loco Dice and more added to growing SW4 lineup

The 2014 edition of SW4 continues to grow with even more acts announced today.  The Summer Festival Guide can reveal who else joins the lineup today.

As one of the greatest DJs of modern times, Loco Dice joins us at SW4 this summer for his exclusive London festival play of 2014 and at the very pinnacle of his career. His upcoming ‘Used + Abused’ event at Brixton Academy sold out weeks in advance and with SW4 representing his final appearance in the Capital this year, his addition to the lineup will only add to the clamour for tickets. Dice is no stranger to Clapham Common of course. His back-to-back set with Carl Cox last August provided one of the key moments of our 10th Anniversary and in 2014 Dice will be pulling out all the stops to top thisphenomenal effort. This summer will also see Dice sharpen his skills at many of the world’s leading festivals including Sonar, Tomorrowland, Kazantip and Movement, before he closes the season in style with a hugely powerful performance at SW4. If there was ever a time to see one of the most excitingand in-demand DJs on the planet, this is it.

In 2014 Josh Wink’s seminal label Ovum Recordings reaches the two decade mark. A series of parties across the globe will celebrate this achievement, but when it comes to London Josh has chosen SW4 to commemorate this milestone. His set at the festival will include many of the standout tracks that have gone onto define his imprint over the past twenty years and build a reputation alongside dance music’s most illustrious. As for Josh SW4 2014 represents a very welcome return for one of the finest DJs we have been lucky enough to bring you. An incredible performance back in 2011 was amongst the best of the weekend and with 2014 holding even greater significance we expect something very special from this iconic figure.

The intricate, electronic soundscapes of Henry Saiz have been on our radar for some time now, mainly because of his forward thinking, beautifully layered DJ sets for The Gallery at Ministry of Sound. His deep, yet melodic bass combined with hypnotic riffs and surging breakdowns can transform any room, arena or stage into an intense cauldron of sound, with this the predicted outcome of his performance at South West Four. Having showcased his superb live show to a capacity crowd at Shoreditch’s Village Undeground last year, Henry brings it to SW4 for the first time on Saturday 23rd August. Anexploration into melodic-hypnotic house, analogue techno and retro-futuristic pop, Henry Saiz Live will immerse us into his interpretation of electronica and entice dance music aficionados to Clapham Common from all over.

Another key artist from the Desolat family joining us at SW4 2014 is Robert Dietz. Having cut his teeth on the Frankfurt scene alongside the likes of Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, Robert’s sound captures the celebratory spirit of old-fashioned club music, joining it with sleek, 21st century vibes. 2014 has seen Robert’s relentless touring schedule continue with appearances at Time Warp (Mannheim), Output (New York), Spybar (Chicago) and Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), plus upcoming gigs at many more of the world’s leading nightclubs and festivals. This will be Robert’s SW4 debut and as his productions continue to include the vital ingredients needed to make a dancefloor explode, we know he will go down a storm.

UK Debut for Babymetal at this years Sonisphere

The latest musical phenomenon to go viral is Japan's BABYMETAL, and Team Sonisphere snapped them up to join this year's line up. Since uploading latest single "Gimme Chocolate!!" less than two months ago, anyone with even a passing interest in music will be aware of the teenage trio's blend of Icon Pop and Heavy Metal. Generating over 5 million views, seemingly out of nowhere, the music press was forced to stand up and take notice, with premier rock publications like Kerrang! and Metal Hammer featuring the band, alongside mainstream outlets such as The Guardian and USA Today.

Innovators will always divide opinion, and announcing that BABYMETAL's debut performance in the UK will be on a bill that also boasts IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS and MASTODON will no doubt cause some anguished cries from the purists, but one thing is certain – anyone lucky enough to squeeze into the BOHEMIA tent on SONISPHERE'S SUNDAY will be rewarded with an all singing, all dancing show the likes of which the UK has never seen before.

“I am so honored that we are confirmed to play Sonisphere Festival UK.” Declares SU-METAL. “There are so many different types of artists playing this festival but I hope to deliver a one and only, unique style metal – BABYMETAL – even to those who will see us for the very first time.
This will be our very first time in the UK, which makes us nervous yet excited just imagining what type of people will come and see us, what sort of show it will end up being, and whether the audience will enjoy our show.”

She continues, “We'll hopefully get to see Metallica-san's performance again after witnessing them at Summer Sonic festival in Japan which we are very excited about. Put your KITSUNE sing up!! See you!!”

More acts added to Undercover Festival

We at the Summer Festival Guide are happy to announced the latest batch of artists announced for this years Undercover Festival.

UK SUBS (Main Stage Sat 20th Sept)
Incredibly, 2010 marked the fifth decade in which the U.K.Subs had continually graced the Punk Rock scene. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed, late in 1976.

Led by the indefatigable Charlie Harper (now venerated as the godfather of UK punk) the band has continued and thrived, through various line-ups and record companies.

Touring worldwide for 35 plus years, they maintain and pioneer the true spirit of punk rock, without the compromise and watering-down that has affected so many of their contemporaries. There has never been any division of fan and band with the Subs, and Charlie’s unrelenting love of his audience and music shines through.

SPIZZENERGI (Main Stage Sun 21st Sept)

They were originally booked for the Fri but pulled out for acceptable reasons but we are pleased that ALL of the band is NOW available to play the Sunday AND boy are you in for a treat..

Spizzenergi formed in the late 1970s, led by Spizz.  The band changed its name every year, subsequent names includingAthletico Spizz 80Spizzoil and The Spizzles. They are notable as the first band to top the newly created UK Indie Chartearly in 1980. However, they were perhaps best known for their single "Where's Captain Kirk?" More than two decades after its release, it was included in Mojo magazine's list of the best punk rock singles of all time.

2014 marks the 35th anniversary since those heady days where Spizz formed the band, yes there have been numerous changes to the band but what has not changed is the show you will witness at Undercover one that is relentless, pure theatre  and great fun.

One of the best showmen on the scene today..

TV SMITH (Stage II Fri 19th Sept)

Back at Undercover and deservedly so, if anyone who was at Undercover 2013 would know why we welcomed TV Smith back and his solo show always guaranteed to put in 110%.

TV Smith was founder member, singer and songwriter for the Adverts, who formed in the summer of 1976, and became one of the leading bands in the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977, they performed regularly at the seminal Roxy Club in London, and gained cult success with the Stiff Records single “One Chord Wonders.” This turned to notoriety when their next release, “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” became a hit record, leading to frequent radio and TV appearances and extensive media interest. A further single, “No Time To Be 21,” also entered the charts.  The album that followed in 1978, “Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts,” is still considered a genuine classic, and appears in many Top Ten Punk Album lists.

THE MEOW MEOWS (Main stage Sunday 21st Sept)

The Meow Meows are a lively nine piece Ska 'n' Soul band from Brighton with a shared love of ska and drinking until incapacity.

Gathering a huge reputation we are pleased to have these guys on board and anyone coming had better get their skanking boots on as its going to be a lively set and then some..

That’s it for Undercover 2014s line up announcements…

We have made every effort to keep the buzz that was special in 2013 and make this festival that bit different.

Please note: For the avoidance of any doubt The Undercover Festival is not an open air festival – the festival will be held in 2 rooms plus other areas at the Bisley Pavilion nr Woking Surrey –  undercover by nature of the music policy of this festival and undercover – well because it is….
