Volunteers wanted for Beverly Folk Festival

Beverley Folk Festival has launched an appeal for more volunteers to work at this year’s festival on Beverley Racecourse between June 19 and 21.

“We’re looking for music fans who might be willing to help out on the festival site in exchange for free tickets.” explained Festival Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator Laura Whitewood.

The jobs that need filling include:

·         Helping set up the festival site beforehand.

·         Clearing up afterwards

·         Working on the box office and information desk.

·         Stewarding the various performance venues

·         Selling merchandise

·         Campsite and traffic Control

·         Being part of the Green Team

In exchange for 12 hours help over the festival period, volunteers (who must be over 18) receive a free weekend pass, worth £110, allowing access to all the performances and events, including the headline concerts. Camping passes worth £20 are also provided for those wishing to stop on site for the weekend.

“We need dozens of volunteers to help in vital roles to ensure the festival runs smoothly,” explained Laura, “but they also get plenty of time off to enjoy the festival.”

“They also have an opportunity to gain transferable skills, make new friends and see top acts from the UK and overseas.”

“We can also provide a ‘volunteer certificate’ if required, to those who successfully complete their shifts showing they were part of a festival dedicated team. This certificate is very useful for those wanting to work at other festivals in the future.” Laura added.

For more information, prospective volunteers can visit www.beverleyfestival.comemailvolunteers@beverleyfestival.com for a volunteer pack, or call: 01377 217569

Lethal Bizzle, Raleigh Ritchie and more set for Sundown Festival

More huge names have been added to Sundown Festival 2015, with Lethal Bizzle, Raleigh Ritchie, Shadow Child and a host of others joining an already huge line-up for the biggest pop party taking over Norwich this summer. With just months to go until the event, they join a mammoth line-up including Rudimental, Nero (live), Tinie Tempah and more.

One of Grime’s pioneering figures, Lethal Bizzle is no rookie to the festival circuit, and after nearly a decade in the spotlight he knows how to get a crowd moving. With hits including ‘Rari Workout’, ‘POW!’ and his groove-worthy new single ‘Fester Skank’, the dench instructor himself promises to provide an unforgettable set on the main stage on Saturday 5th September.

Bringing sultry R&B with a gritty hip-hop edge, Raleigh Richie has also been added to the line-up, set to make a main stage appearance on Sunday 6th September, playing before the likes of Labrinth, Maverick Sabre, Wretch 32 and more of the world’s hottest pop, dance and urban acts.

Elsewhere across the festival, acclaimed producers Shadow Child and Low Steppa join the incredible Defected stage line-up on Saturday, while DC Breaks and Culture Shock have been added to the undeniably massive Andy C Presents RAM takeover on Sunday.

Campers arriving on site Friday 4th September will also be delighted to hear that dance tastemakers SubSoul will be hosting a huge campers-only opening party to fully kick off the weekend for those staying on site from the first day. The likes of Friend Within, DJ SKT, Gotsome, Toyboy & Robin, Apres & Icarus all look set to get the party started in style, starting off what promises to be a phenomenal weekend.

SW4 2015 main stage lineups complete

When it comes to modern times, no other musical prodigy has dominated airwaves and filled stadiums across the planet like Martin Garrix. In the space of less than two years this Dutch teenager has taken the world by storm, with a list of achievements which often prove difficult to comprehend. Aged just 16, Martin became the youngest producer to have ever reached the number one spot in the Beatport charts. He has since achieved a UK #1 selling single, broke Top 10 charts in a further ten countries and headlined many of the world’s most popular electronic music festivals including Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland and Mysterland. In an ultra-rare London performance, Martin returns to the Capital on Sunday 30th August to make his South West Four debut. We’re ready. Are you?

ALSO ADDED TO SW4 LINEUP…

CLAPTONE [LIVE]

KIDNAP KID · SAM DIVINE

JESSE JAMES & JOHNNY BLOOMFIELD · HILTON CASWELL · BOWLER

As one of the hottest artists currently residing in the global electronic scene, South West Four is delighted to bring Claptone’s incredible live show to London for the very first time on Saturday 29th August. Having featured on Radio1’s Essential Mix and headlined Ministry of Sound this past weekend alone, Claptone has been on a crest of a wave in recent times. His latest track ‘The Music Got Me’ achieved Essential New Tune status on Pete Tong’s Radio1 show a couple of weeks back, which along with ‘Forest Of Love’ and his superb remix of Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’, has completed a hat-trick of Claptone productions which have stormed Beatport’s ‘Deep House’ Top 10 this year. With more productions on their way this summer via his debut album, the man behind the mask will illustrate at SW4 that when it comes to 2015, this is the year of Claptone.

A key member of Rudimental’s colossal Black Butter camp, Kidnap Kid has ridden the house and garage renaissance of recent times, to develop his own sound that makes him difficult to pigeonhole. Setting the trends for others to follow, Kidnap Kid represents this very British sound on an international level. His record ‘Vehl’ won iTunes ‘Best Electronic Song’ of 2012, whilst his summer anthem ’Survive’ went straight to the top of the Hype Machine charts. Kidnap Kid has remixed a plethora of musical talent including Disclosure, Rudimental, Clean Bandit and Emile Sande and with the continued backing of Black Butter, the future looks very bright for this young tastemaker. Kidnap Kid can be found playing Fatboy Slim’s Smile High Club at SW4 on Saturday 29thAugust.

As the first lady of Defected Records, Sam Divine is the guaranteed floor-filler and party starter who has developed into one of the most popular and passionate DJs on the house circuit. Armed with a summer diary filled with tour dates across Europe and beyond, her sets are a blend of deep, vocal and Balearic house, with the mighty feline making her South West Four debut on Sunday 30th August. With a new summer residency on the horizon in the Defected room at Together at Amnesia Ibiza, Sam has carved herself a formidable path. Set to enjoy a strong and long lasting career we can’t wait to bring her to Clapham Common for the first time this August.

Clean Bandit and more added to this years Truck Festival

Clean Bandit’s rapid rise to fame has seen the quartet bag a Grammy for their hit ‘Rather Be’, now this summer will see them perform this and other smashes for the Truck festival audience. Formed whilst studying at the University of Cambridge the band hail from enemy territory given Truck festival’s proximity to rivals Oxford, no doubt a slice of polished electro-pop will build bridges during their set. Temples, signed to the much-respected Heavenly Recordings, bring a slice of psychedelia to proceedings. The band has previously supported none other than The Rolling Stones and Brett Anderson personally invited them to tour with Suede. Temples’ set at Truck therefore comes with some very weighty recommendations. A heady mix of rock, samples, spoken word and synths make up the mind-bending experience that is Public Service Broadcasting. The duo consisting of the enigmatically named J. Willgoose, Esq. and Wrigglesworth will provide a not-to-miss moment at Truck.

As the festival stretches its musical offering further and further dance music finds a home at Truck. The Truck x Switch stage is collaborative effort boasting a headline set from Shy FX, one of drum n’ bass’ major players.  Elsewhere Truck’s decks will be spinning courtesy of Black Butter Records’ My Nu Leng, MOBO Award-winning garage duo DJ Luck & MC Neat, bass music two-piece GotSome and Switch resident DJs.

Next to step up to the Truck stages are Liverpudlian trio All We Are, indie-pop outfit Dog Is Dead and swaggering rockers The Bohicas. Husband and wife duo Summer Camp, Australian trio DMA’s and a young singer reminiscent of Jamie T, Rat Boy make up further additions to the line up.

Last but by no means least are The Magic Gang, rockers currently courting attention from the likes of NME, a band far from their Jon O’Groats home, Neon Waltz, singer/songwriter Jake Isaac and up-and-coming indie act New Desert Blues.

Making her second appearance at V Festival, Shappi Khorsandi said: “Sadly, rock stardom didn't happen for me so performing at V Festival’s Glee Club Comedy Tent is the very next best thing.”

Seann Walsh also commented: “I am looking forward to V Festival. However, I am not looking forward to the few days after it. I am both excited and terrified. Oh God!”

Dot To Dot announce another wave of artists for 2015

Winner of ‘Best Metropolitan Festival 2013’ at the UK Festival Awards, Dot To Dot Festival is established as the UKs premier festival for unearthing the hottest new talent around, alongside established acts from all over the globe. 2015 marks the festival’s 10th year and will see it returning to Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham from the 22nd to 24th May. Dot To Dot’s ever eclectic line-up is set to make this landmark year one of the biggest and best in the festival’s history.  Already confirmed so far is Nottingham’s latest success story Saint Raymond, critically acclaimed singer songwriter Rae Morris, Californian surf-pop duo Best Coast, the anthemic synth-pop of Prides and the notorious, visceral Fat White Family.

Kicking off the fourth announcement is Rhodes.  The 25-year-old troubadour from Hitchin has had a busy 18 months, with three EPs under his belt already and an eagerly anticipated debut album on the way. His epic balladry has drawn comparisons to Jeff Buckley, as well as Sam Smith, who you may have already seen him on tour with.

Ireland’s biggest indie-rock exports of recent years The Coronas also join the bill. The quartet specializes in catchy guitar hooks and towering melodies, which saw them beat U2 and Snow Patrol to Best Album at the Meteor Awards in their homeland. Their most recent effort The Long Way has seen the group take a more ambitious approach to their songwriting under the guidance of producer Eliott James (Kaiser Chiefs, Two Door Cinema Club, Noah and the Whale).

Amber Run, whose debut album 5am has just entered the top 20 in the UK midweek charts, play a slick brand of indie-pop with choruses that clearly have stadium ambition. Built on a foundation of rock, Nothing But Thieves mix a colorful pallet of fervent riffs, effortless falsetto vocals and hints of electronica. Manchester all female four PINS play a fierce brand of post-punk, which is well showcased amongst the glitter and middle finger salutes of recent single “Too Little Too Late”.

Sundara Karma boast indie anthems with sun soaked guitars turned all the way up to eleven. 23-year-old rock & roller Louis Berry has been described as “channelling the energy of Jerry Lee Lewis through the story-telling of Dylan”

Further additions include the urgent, staccato cool wave of All Tvvins, the honeyed balladry of Martin Luke Brown, the melancholy minimalism of Robyn Sherwell, as well as A.O.S.O.O.N , Aaron Keylock, Ady Suleiman, Amy Yon (Bristol only), Black Honey,                  C Duncan, Creepoid, Dark Waves, Daisy Victoria, Dralms, Easy Life, H.Hawkline, High Tyde, Jamie Lawson, K.I.D,  Ming City Rockers, Movie, NGOD, Nick Brewer, Nothing But Thieves, Pierce Brothers, PINS, Rag’n’Bone Man, Sam Sure, Seafret, Steve Parker, Sykes, Vaults and White.

Dot To Dot Organiser Anton Lockwood (of DHP Family) said: “We’re just over a month away until we bring you Dot to Dot’s 10th Birthday, something that we’re all very excited for! Of the latest additions to the line-up, one of our biggest ever to date, I’m delighted to welcome Rhodes to the bill who is set for big things for sure!”

For the uninitiated, Dot to Dot is all about bringing the best new music to some of the most forward-thinking venues in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham. One wristband gains you access to 14 hours of music across multiple stages around your city of choice. Always progressing, the Northern Quarter will this year host Dot to Dot Manchester. Andy C presents RAM comes to SW4

After witnessing the emphatic return of the ground-breaking Roni Size Reprazent [Live] with a string of sold out shows last year, it was time to get our hands on this drum and bass phenomenon and showcase their talents at South West Four. The seven piece band comprising of Roni Size, Dynamite MC, Onallee, Si John, D Product, Jay Wilcox and Yuval Gabay are an act we’ve deeply loved over the years, so to bring them to Clapham Common is quite simply mission accomplished. They join Andy C and RAM as the stage’s very special guests, with a promise to deliver an extraordinary live show that is sure to go down in SW4 history.

Hailing from Vienna, Camo & Krooked are one of the most electrifying duos of today and one that we welcome to South West Four for the very first time. Having championed the scene for over a decade, their infectious sound has spread worldwide resulting in an army of revellers eagerly awaiting their next move. With SW4 now marked on their tour diary, anticipation is already rising. As leading pioneers of drum and bass, their last London visit saw the Austrian duo ignite Brixton Academy on New Years Eve and if that was anything to go by, you’d better hold tight.

Made up of Gavin Harris and Nick Hill, formerly and respectively known to the drum and bass world as Xample and Lomax, Loadstar has surpassed the very highest of expectations in recent years. By fusing their individual styles, the duo have created a unique sound that imbues club dance floors and festival arenas alike with incredible energy and impeccable musical precision. Firm favourites within the RAM camp, their addition to the stage is huge. Having just completed an incredible tour of the US and Canada including a standout date at RAM’s Miami WMC takeover, the hype for their London return has never been greater.

Dan Havers and Chris Page or better known as DC Breaks have also been hand-picked to be part of this full-blown assault of the senses. Make no mistake about it, when it comes to crafting fierce dance-floor weapons these two are at the top of the class. Signed to RAM in 2010 thanks to their brilliant production skills, the British duo have gone on to release a catalogue of drum and bass debauchery on the label on top of stellar remixes for Tinie Tempah, Loadstar and Example. With their latest offering ‘Faithless’ ft Bianca receiving unconditional support from Andy C himself, their exclusive summer performance will not disappoint.

Also joining the August Bank Holiday madness is another of RAM’s greatest assets. Celebrated as one of the imprint’s most talented producers, we are delighted to welcome Culture Shock on Sunday 30th August. Boasting an array of hugely creative drum and bass productions which take influences from the broadest fields of house, techno and beyond, Culture Shock is a force to be reckoned with. This, along with his eclectic DJ sets, make him one of the most exciting acts to emerge from RAM’s international melting-pot of talent in recent years and one who’s trademark sounds is sure to rattle Clapham Common to its core.
