john digweed“I am very lucky to have been asked back again to play at one of the UK`s premier Festivals SW4. For me it just seems to get better and better each year, They really do deliver a fantastic day out in the centre of London featuring the world’s best DJ`s and live acts, so to be part of this again is amazing. Really looking forward to my set and also seeing who else is playing. To play to your home crowd in the centre of London is the best experience any DJ could have.” John Digweed

Since opening its doors on 21st September 1991 as an alcohol-free nightclub dedicated to house music,Ministry of Sound has gone onto become a flagship for British youth culture; an iconic brand that includes the world’s most famous club, the world’s largest independent record label, and a multimedia entertainment business, all directed from their South London home. 2011 is a significant milestone forMinistry of Sound as it marks their 20th anniversary. To celebrate the Ministry will be involved with a series of events across the globe, none as big as hosting the main stage at South West Four onSaturday 27th August.

laidback lukeIn addition to a London festival exclusive live performance from the undisputed kings of electronic music Underworld, SW4 welcomes a huge lineup of world class DJs to Saturday’s main stage lineup. Having graced the green grass of Clapham Common on six consecutive occasions, with hisBedrock arena one of the highlights of last year, John Digweed is back. Following his sell out Brixton Academy show back in October and an intimate Bedrock event at London’s Arcadia over Easter, expect John to end the summer in style. Laidback Luke made his very successful debut at last year’s South West Four with a performance that had the Common rocking under the August sun. Continuing to produce some of the biggest tracks to hit our airwaves, not to mention selling out clubs and events the world over, we’re delight to welcome Luke back to SW4. 2011 represents 20 years of Pete Tong hosting his BBC Radio 1 show. He has a massive summer ahead with many huge performances celebrating this milestone and a much anticipated return to Pacha Ibiza for an all new residency. Having rocked the main stage in 2010 we’re delighted to welcome Pete back to his home town for another memorable appearance.

James Zabiela’s last SW4 performance came back in 2009. After having two years away from the Common it was time to welcome the technical whiz kid back. A hugely popular figure and a a stellar addition to any line-up, we’re very excited about what to expect. One of the world’s great DJs Argentina’sHernan Cattaneo debuts at SW4 in 2011. A name synonymous with deep, tribal and progressive house, we’re delighted to be able to add him to Saturday’s line-up alongside Demi and Omid 16B akaSOS.

SUNDAY 28TH AUGUST:
SW4 MAIN STAGE IN ASSOCIATION WITH UNION
ANNIE MAC (RADIO 1)
DIGITAL SOUNDBOY SYSTEM
FEAT SHY FX, BREAKAGE, B.TRAITS WITH DONAEO, YOUNGMAN & STAMINA MC
WRETCH 32 / TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS YASMIN / UNION

“We are delighted to be hosting the main stage at SW4 festival this year! After throwing secret invite only raves for five years we wanted to open the invitation out to everyone, so we’ve asked some of the biggest acts on the planet to join us on stage in Clapham this summer. The main stage is always the focal point of any festival but the mindblowing acts and production we have in store for this year will take things to a level never seen before!  Prepare yourselves because we’re about to destroy the city of London!” Mark Adams (Union)

Revered as the blueprint for a 21st century club night – secret but fun, exciting but underground, Union has gained a ferociously loyal following in a very short time. With an insane and hedonistic crowd and awe inspiring production, Union is an example of what can be achieved when you tear up the rulebook! 2011 marks the fifth anniversary of Union’s residency at the legendary Fabric in London and their hosting of the main stage on Sunday 28th August at SW4 is one of a series of non-secret events to celebrate.

Alongside the musical juggernaut that is Pendulum and dubstep’s most loved trio Magnetic Man, Sunday’s main stage line-up focuses on the more alternative side of the dance music spectrum. The first lady of BBC Radio 1, Annie Mac, has this year continued to take her‘Annie Mac presents’ tour across the world with monstrous parties that have turned many a head. Add to that her hugely successful weekly radio show and you’re looking at one of the most talked about DJs of our time. As the leader of the Digital Soundboy SystemShy FXleads a tight-knit team of like-minded Soundboy soldiers. This includes the prestigious Breakage, one of the world’s premier female DJs B.Traits with MC Donaeo, DJ Marky’s MC of choice Stamina and one of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic vocal talents, Youngman.Adding more live music to the Sunday Main Stage lineup, London’s grime sensation Wretch 32 has recently shot to fame after the release of his debut smash hit ‘Traktor’. Having toured the UK extensively this year to rave reviews, we’re delighted to add him to the SW4 line-up. It’s not often you see a life sized dinosaur play electro but this is what can be expected fromTotally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Beginning her music career as a DJ in London just two years ago, Yasmin has already founded her own successful club night, spun around the world for N.E.R.D., Taio Cruz and Eve and played storming sets at Glastonbury and Ibiza Rocks. Established as a world-class spinner, Yasmin is now ready to make her mark as a fully-fledged artist, singer and songwriter in her own right. Her next stop? SW4.

Leftfield’s Leftism comes to Beat Herder Festival 2011

Leftfield’s Head Honcho Neil Barnes says “I am very happy to be playing at Beat Herder this year. Feels like I am coming home!” It is a great honour to be on the same bill as Simian Mobile Disco and Andrew Weatherall amongst all the other great acts. Can’t Wait!”

left fieldLast year, Leftfield took the Live show on the road after years in hibernation and we are so excited that the Ribble Valley is going to experience what has only been described as a ‘mind blowing visual and aural feast’

Dance music’s underground heroes Dreadzone are the next act to be added to this burgeoning bill, along with Acid House legend Greg Wilson, DJ du jour Doorly. Going back to our roots on the reggae tip are The Selecter featuring Pauline Black and Gaps Hendrickson and original Rude Boy Neville Staple.

Deep in the heart of sleepy Ribble Valley something magical is on the boil! The festival gears and wheels have been slowly turning all through the winter and preparation for the best Beat-Herder yet is well under way.

500 Early Bird tickets sold out in a record 5 minutes! Full priced weekend tickets are now on sale for £85. This year children tickets are £15! Run by six hardy and creative Yorkshire men, preparation for the ‘best one yet’ is well under way! Beat-Herder HQ is already working over time cooking up a ruddy delectable pot of artistry, nonsense and Beat-Herder barminess for your fun packed festival pleasure. Oo err! The spectacular Beat-Herder workshop is already crammed with wood and recycled junk that is being lovingly crafted into the nuts and bolts of the madcap creations that make the breath taking festival site.
This year we have been working on beautifying the woodland, ready for a new and intriguing area has already begun, there’s a lot of work involved, but we’re really excited, it’s going to be ‘quality’.

And our fancy dress frenzy is being announced too.. Friday is Flower Power day to bring some colour, joy peace and love to Beat-Herder for you and your lovely petals. Saturday night is Everything begins with an E! Think Eggboxes, ET, Eskimos, Elephants, ETC ETC! oooh how Exciting!

With zero official sponsorship, no egos and not a scrap of branding in sight Beat-Herder is not about platinum selling artists on huge stages but about creative festival fun, locally sourced food and booze (at cheap as chips prices) and the friendliest most up for it crowds this side of the Pennines!

Beat-Herder legend has it that in the beginning there was the Toil Trees where the Toil Sound system brought friends together to party beneath the trees. The landowner was set to cut down the forest but he enjoyed himself so much that he couldn’t bear to chop it down. And so Beat- Herder was born and has grown from strength to strength! 2010 saw Beat-Herder scoop the runner up prize for ‘Best Dance Event’ at the UK Festival Awards and this year looks set to be the biggest to date!

With hay stacks more of amazing DJs and live acts soon to be revealed watch this space as Beat-Herder 2011 is going to be a goodun’!

And that folks is definitely not all! When your legs tire of dancing to this little lot why not check out the amazing extras… Being small, intimate and perfectly formed there’s never far to walk but there are still plenty of stages, interactive nonsense and hidden surprises to satisfy even the most curious of Beat-Herders!

Stop of for a brew or a beer at Mikey’s Tea Shack, sit down beneath the hanging baskets on one of the famous Beat-Herder vibrating benches (a favourite with the older lady) or check out one of the many magical surprises hidden around every corner. Last years Granma’s Launderette hidden deep in the trees through a 20m long tunnel was a massive hit and this year the BH crew are thinking bigger so watch this space!

Also back by popular demand for 2011 is the legendary Working Men’s Club. Remember 10p pints, Ford Cortinas, three-day weeks and the miner’s strikes? No? Well neither do we but we like to party like its 1970 at Beat-Herders very own working men’s club! It has all the glamour of a 70s pit village with added real ale, silliness and glittery blue eye shadow. The working men’s club with play host to the annual “Beat-Herders got Talent (judged last year by Coronation Street’s very own Jannis Battersby).” And again, mad old nana moon will be having a sing a long, there will be bingo, and some top class talent will also be performing!

Easily heard but not as easy to find, the Toil Trees stage which this year has a new and improved crispy clear sound system can be found tucked snuggly amongst the trees, the epicenter of the festival. Get amongst it and dance to the eclectic beats that last throughout the night.

With it’s intimate fun atmosphere and amazing facilities Beat-Herder strikes the perfect balance between ‘up for it crowd’ and family friendly vibe. With a new and improved Kids field and super cheap kid’s tickets, Beat Herder’s of every age are warmly welcomed!

More amazing acts and madness soon to be announced so watch this space!

More acts for Melt!
jose gonzalezWe are particularly looking forward to José González’ acoustic performance this year. Besides his gig with Junip, the Swedish singer-songwriter is about to be the first to climb the Gemini Stage on Sunday. After Kings of Convenience’s wonderful acoustic concert in 2010, González is about to ring in the last festival day with delightful feel good atmosphere in 2011 – continuing the tradition.

Patrick Wolf also found his way into this year’s line-up. In 2009, he made the clouds disappear with his extraordinary performance, and in 2011, he will make everyone jump for joy with his new album. The Californian Cold War Kids and the British Noah & The Whale will also perform songs off their 2011 albums. We Have Band, on the other hand, keep on proving that they are true pros on stage with their debut WHB.

richie hawtinIn terms of electronic music, we have also something to offer: Richie Hawtin is now part of our line-up, joined by Chase & Status and Fake Blood, who will perform live for the first time at Melt!. Also performing live: Azari & III as well as Nôze, who will arrive with his band. Addison Groove completes the Melt! Selektor Stage’s line-up.

With Matt And Kim as well as The Hundred In The Hands, we welcome two duos from New York that will definitely score with their energetic live shows. These New Puritans rather dedicate themselves to experimental soundscapes. With the Danish When Saints Go Machine, we also have fantastic newcomers on board, The Sound Of Arrows present us with fairy tale synth pop, and Crocodiles conquer the stage with a rough version of Dandyism. Dirty guitar sounds are the legendary Berlin band Mutter as well as Duchess Says’ forte.

Melt! Anthem
You should also mark the 18th of April in your calendar. At noon, we will upload this year’s Melt! anthem to our website (http://www.meltfestival.de/hymne), which will be available for free. We won’t tell you who wrote it, but we go way back. Another clue might be our slogan “U Melt! My Heart”.

Groove Presents
This year, we are also looking forward to a fantastic premiere: our media partner, Groove, curates 24 straight hours at Sleepless Floor for the first time. Under the banner of Groove Presents, the German magazine for electronic music and club culture brings us established and upcoming labels and their artists. Uncanny Valley are the first to arrive with Jacob Korn (live), The Moroders, and Albrecht Wasserleben. Wolf + Lamb send Gadi Mizrahi, No Regulars, Maayan Nidam and Miss Fitz. The Smallville delegation is comprised of Christopher Rau, Smallpeople aka Dionne & Julius Steinhoff. Last but not least, Stroboscopic Artefacts is represented by Lucy, Edit Select, and Dadub (live).

Melt! Pre-Party
The Audiolith crew’s parking lot raves have been an integral part of the Melt! cosmos since always. They had always been the perfect but unofficial opening party of Melt! Festival till last year. Then the boys officially came on board. Since the pre-party got bigger and bigger, we simply moved the debauchery from the parking lot to the Intro Zelt so we wouldn’t disturb the neighbours too much. In 2011, the pre-party will once again be held on Thursday night (14th July) with an obvious Audiolith presence. Frittenbude will conquer the stage together with Egotronic, Mediengruppe Telekommander are about to perform songs off their new album (a Audiolith/Staatsakt collaboration), various Audiolith DJs will fuel Melt! madness among the crowd and a secret special guest is also going to show up. Once again, the pre-party’s capacity is limited. Like last year, you have to pay a EUR 5 cover charge (incl. fees), which will be partially donated to charity. Tickets for our pre-party are only available as etickets here (www.meltfestival.de/tickets) in combination with a festival ticket only.

By the way: last year’s pre-party was sold out. So if you want make sure that you actually get in, we urge you to buy your ticket in advance.

Melt! Train
Our hotel train rides again! Last year, our beds on wheels option for Melt! premiered. In 2011, a train will ride once more to the festival site in Ferropolis as part of our environmental project M!Eco.

In collaboration with Cool-Tours ( http://www.cool-tours.de/) and MixeryFunTravel (http://www.mixery-fun-travel.de/), we charter a Euro Express train, which will depart from Cologne. The train is stopping directly in front of the festival grounds. The best thing about it: every passenger will have his or her own private bed on Melt! Train including sanitary arrangements for four days. To assure that only Hotel Train passengers have access to their departments, special wristbands will be handed out.

One compartment of the train is also equipped with its own DJ and a bar run by Cool-Tours. The bar will be open during the journey as well as during the day on location. New this year: Cool-Tours offers daily breakfast for EUR 19, which can be ordered in advance or on arrival. Train attendants will care for your needs the entire journey.

Return journey plus four overnight stays will cost you EUR 99 (per person, festival ticket not included). To guarantee that you will be booked in a compartment with all your friends (up to six), one of you has to book single tickets for all the others. So if you book a compartment with six beds this will cost you EUR 594.

Book your ticket via Cool-Tours here ( http://www.festivalreisen.de/index.php?cat=c16_Melt%21.html). Further info on eco-friendly travel options to Melt! will be posted here (http://www.meltfestival.de/de/melt_reise) soon.

Tickets

patrick wolfDescribed by the Observer as ‘Britain’s most innovative, radical and creative pop star’, Get Loaded in the Park is delighted to welcome Patrick Wolf to the main stage line-up. Joining him will also be eight piece cult indie heroes Los Campesinos!

The Gigwise stage promises something for everyone this year; joining Darwin Deez to get everyone in the summer mood will be Babeshadow, who recently toured with Florence and the Machine and electro-pop French artist Yelle, who is currently on tour with Katy Perry. Proceedings will take a darker turn when Goth rockers O.Children and South West London synth duo Alpines hit the stage.

The Last.FM stage hosted by The Flower Pot will be headlined by Johnny Flynn, described by The Times as ‘the next poster boy for the nu-folk scene’. He will be joined by the sweet harmonious hooks and rockabilly beats of Slow Club, hotly tipped spoken word hip hop act Sound of Rum which features the lyrical genius of Kate Tempest, The Agitator, aka Derek Meins, whose songs, according to the Guardian ‘sound like Billy Bragg barking over Public Enemy beats’, Beans on Toast, who blends a dark wit with serious social and political satire, and newcomers Dark Moon (Joe Strummer’s daughter’s band) and The Joker and the Thief.

Having aligned itself with London’s leading inner-city festivals, Get Loaded in the Park has garnered a reputation for showcasing heavy hitters within the alternative music scene. chipmunkChipmunk, Alexis Jordan, Jodie Connor and Dot Rotten join an already sensational line up on Friday 1 July, with Black Eyed Peas headlining and other acts so far confirmed including Plan B, Tine Tempah and David Guetta. Widely considered as one of the best UK grime acts around Chipmunk burst onto the scene in 2009 with his platinum selling debut album ‘I Am Chipmunk…’. He has amassed five top-ten hits on the UK Singles Chart, including the chart topping ‘Oopsy Daisy’, and his highly anticipated second album ‘Transition’ is out soon. One of 2011’s explosive new arrivals, Alexis Jordan, is an 18-year-old pop powerhouse currently tearing up the club & airplay charts in the UK. The former America’s Got Talent finalist, who has the backing of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, has already scored two top ten UK singles with her insanely catchy pop hits ‘Happiness’ and ‘Good Girl’. Mancunian singer songwriter Jodie Connor and hotly tipped South London MC Dot Rotten are also set to join Friday’s fantastic line-up.

j coleJ.Cole is now confirmed to join headliners The Chemical Brothers on Saturday 2 July, a day which already boasts Chase & Status, Aphex Twin and Janelle Monae amongst others. The first ever artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, North Carolina born and bred J. Cole made himself notable when he dropped his recent mixtape The Warm Up, as well as a coveted guest verse on Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 with ‘A Star Is Born’. New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica will also hit the stage, a fellow Roc Nation recruit, he has gained widespread critical praise for his lyrically dense performances and soulful tunes. Michael Franti and Spearhead also join the bill, well known for their moving politically charged tunes, they were at the forefront of hip-hop’s renaissance, mixing hip-hop with a unique blend of funk, reggae, jazz, and rock. Also added to Saturday’s enviable line-up is North London’s Modestep, electronic dance act Her Majesty and the Wolves featuring former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, Maverick Sabre, who appeared on Professor Green’s latest single, and acclaimed DJ James Holroyd.

the pretty recklessHaving recently announced Grace Jones as support for Pulp on 3 July, Wireless with Barclaycard have announced a string of new acts bursting with talent to join the Sunday line up. The Pretty Reckless have already netted a top ten album here in the UK (for 2010’s Light Me Up), featuring Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen they are set to give an amazing performance. Utah rockers Neon Trees will blast out their hard-hitting anthems of adolescent angst with heart-on-the-sleeve passion. Irish synth-pop rockers Fight Like Apes, London’s electro-pop maestros Clock Opera and Belfast based Cashier No.9 also join Sunday’s storming line-up.

Lykke Li added to Latitude 2011 lineup

lykke liSwedish pop maestro Lykke Li has been a maverick musical presence since her 2007 EP ‘Little Bit’. Squeezing dramatic percussion, haunting organs and infectious soul-pop refrains into her music, her eloquent vocals fill the spacious arrangements. Having hit the Top 40 album charts in 11 countries, including Number Two in her home country, Lykke Li’s latest is proving to be a bigger hit than the critically lauded debut ‘Youth Novels’. She’s currently playing sold out venues across Europe, including Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and with a date at the prestigious Roundhouse booked for November her popularity shows no sign of abating. Iron & Wine to headline Green Man Festival Sunday night

Backed by a superb live band, acclaimed Texas-based singer songwriter Sam Beam will bring the curtain down on our ninth annual summer shindig in the Brecon Beacons on Sunday August 21st.

iron and wineIron & Wine’s brilliant fourth album Kiss Each Other Clean was released to rave reviews at the start of year, drawing comparisons with the likes of Mercury Rev, Simon & Garfunkel and even Stevie Wonder.

It is Beam’s most ambitious and accessible record to date, adding increasingly adventurous instrumentation and a healthy dose of funk to the dusty American of Iron & Wine’s achingly beautiful 2007 breakthrough The Shepherd’s Dog – we can’t imagine a more atmospheric climax to Green Man 2011.

The list of exciting new additions to our amazing 2011 line-up goes on and on!

Gruff Rhys, a bona fide Welsh music legend, has good Green Man form. He headlined the main stage with Super Furry Animals in 2008 and, in typically off-kilter fashion, played a secret solo acoustic set in a nearby cave in 2007. One of the most prolific and consistently original songwriters of his generation makes a welcome return when he headlines the Far Out Tent on Sunday. Gruff will be joined by ace Welsh surf band Y Niwl as he performs tracks from new album Hotel Shampoo, along with melodic gems from his solo back catalogue.

noah and the whaleNoah and the Whale have matured beyond their origins on the West London folk scene alongside contemporaries Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling to morph into one of Britain’s most vital and life-affirming pop bands. Main man Charlie Fink describes new album Last Night On Earth as his “coming of age record” – witness the rise of a compelling band hitting brave new creative heights.

James Blake makes music that melts hearts and moves bodies in equal measure – not so much breaking down musical barriers as leaping over them. It is fair to say that the 22-year-old composer and producer is hot property right now, and for once the hype is justified – here’s your chance to find out what all the fuss is about.

James Yorkston has been holding Green Man audiences spellbound since our very first festival in 2003. As warm and comforting as a well-aged whisky, James will combine timeless folk song-craft with readings from his wry and witty tour diaries It’s Lovely To Be Here – the first ever book from Domino Records’ new publishing imprint.

Suuns are the latest in a long line of great bands to emerge from the musical hotbed of Montreal. The Canadian four-piece fuse post punk, electronica and Krautrock as crashing drums and nose-diving guitar riffs punctuate tautly-weaved beats.

PLUS we’ve got sets from The Antlers, The Cave Singers, Thomas Dybdahl, James Vincent McMorrow, Ben Howard, Treefight For Sunlight, Moddi, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Marcus Foster, John Mouse, Chialo Sim, No Thee No Ess, Neverest Songs, The Sleeping Years and The Bleedin’ Noses to name but a few.

We’ve been keeping you on tenterhooks, but now our final main stage headliner is revealed at last! The good news is that our 2011 line-up doesn’t end there. Ever the tease, Green Man still has some big names hidden up his sleeve. The bad news is that tickets are selling fast, and it just wouldn’t be the same without you…

*The Festival Site:*
The Green Man Festival site is situated in the Brecon Beacons, crossed by the River Usk and enveloped by rolling countryside and breathtaking mountains and hills. It is, in a word, idyllic. We encourage everyone to explore this wonderful site, and make the most of the surroundings. Wide open spaces contrast with intimate moments. Natural beauty blends with community spirit. Camping is limited to one week of the year – Green Man festival. It’s a unique opportunity to camp in surroundings unlikely to be found at a commercial campsite.
The Main Stage is located in a natural grassy amphitheatre. Sprawl out on lush green slopes while watching world-class artists perform against the mystical backdrop of Sugar Loaf Mountain. The formal gardens are used for Einstein’s Garden where art installations, stalls and entertainment are positioned between rose arbours and flowerbeds.
The Courtyard Bar is situated in a Gothic Victorian Stables (keep your eyes peeled for the bats at night) and makes for an ideal halfway meet-up point for the festival. From the Stables you can follow an avenue of ancient trees decorated with garland lights where stalls sell delicious global food and quality crafts. From the avenue, you can enter the walled garden where the Green Man Pub hums until the wee hours. The Green Man Pub is an intimate space where you can drink a superb selection of ales, beers, cider and cocktails while relaxing at sturdy wooden tables and chairs as glorious music wafts across from the Pub Stage. After the avenue of trees, the space opens up to the Science and Literature tents. Near here is the bonfire area, a focal point for late-night jamming from dusk till dawn. The Far Out big top is also nearby, and when the sun goes down the Far Out After Dark keeps the fun alive long past the witching hour, fuelled by the nearby End Up Bar which is open very, very late indeed.
And once you’ve got your bearings, why not pay a visit the all-seeing, all-knowing Green Man himself? He might just make you wish come true…

28 Acts added to Sonisphere 2011 Lineup

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH has revealed another 28 names for its 2011 line up.

BAD RELIGION come to KNEBWORTH for a rare major outdoor UK festival appearance. The punk rock revivalists have been a huge inspiration to countless bands with their catchy, politically charged songs, not to mention guitarist Brett Gurewitz giving birth to the hugely prolific Epitaph record label. With over 5 million albums sold worldwide, BAD RELIGION are one of the most successful independent punk bands around, and it’s not hard to see why. With songs such as “21st Century Digital Boy”, “Punk Rock Song”, “American Jesus” and “Los Angeles Is Burning” to treat audiences with, their set at SONISPHERE is not to be missed.

The legendary duo of MAX and IGGOR bring their CAVALERA CONSPIRACY to SONISPHERE’s APOLLO ARENA stage to dish out a healthy dose of high-speed, aggressively powerful and intense metal in the way that they know best. Formed after a decade long silence between Max and Iggor, the two brothers who created the legendry trailblazing heavy metal band Sepultura as teenagers together, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY is a punishing reminder of just what a magical chemistry these two have. Max promises a show mixed with favourites both old and new at their only UK festival appearance this summer:

“I’m fucking super excited to be part of the Sonisphere Festival in the UK with Cavalera Conspiracy.  We have a new album out, Blunt Force Trauma, and me and Iggor are on fire.  We are gonna play stuff from the first CD, Inflikted, new stuff, some Sepultura and Nailbomb classics, so it should be a storm of metal coming to Sonisphere UK. I can’t wait!”

One of the hottest bands on the UK metal scene right now, Reading thrashers SYLOSIS return to SONISPHERE to open the APOLLO ARENA STAGEHaving recently sold out venues up and down the country on the Metal Hammer Razor Tour, the band look forward to stepping up and showing the world why they deserve the honour of kicking off proceedings on SONISPHERE 2011’s second day:

“We are beyond thrilled to be back at Sonisphere again this year.”
States frontman JOSH MIDDLETON“To be on the main stage is an absolute dream come true for all of us and will be our biggest show to date. Knowing that we will be the first band on that stage after Metallica the night before kind of blows my mind. It’s an honour to play on the same stage as so many influential bands.”

On the SATURN ARENA stage, America’s loudest lounge singer RICHARD CHEESE will perform swingin’ Vegas versions of rock, rap, and metal hits, “swankifying” contemporary songs into traditional pop vocal standards, in a way that can only be described as genius. Having sold more than 175,000 CDs since 2000, CHEESE is one of the most successful covers artists out there and a listen to albums like “Lounge Against The Machine”, “Tuxicity”, “I’d Like A Virgin”, “Aperitif For Destruction” and “The Sunny Side Of The Moon”, leaves you in no doubt as to why. The perfect mix of music, martini, and madcap, SONISPHERE is in for a treat as RICHARD and his band,LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, dish out their own take on popular chart toppers.

Over on BOHEMIA, another eight fantastic acts will join the already impressive line up. Northern Irish rockers THE ANSWER, who release their  ‘412 DAYS OF ROCK‘n’ROLL’ DVD next month – which includes an hour long rockumentary of their time on the road with AC/DC – look forward to showcasing some new songs especially for the KNEBWORTH crowd. Says frontman CORMAC NEESON:

“It’s a great feeling to be asked to play at Sonisphere where we will be rubbing shoulders with the elite of the rock and metal world. This will be our first real opportunity to road test some of our brand new songs. The Answer are looking forward to getting up there and shaking our rock n roll asses with the best of them. Bring it on!!!”

Joining them will be Canadian hardcore heroes CANCER BATS, York metal-mob GLAMOUR OF THE KILL, bluegrass mentalists HAYSEED DIXIE, sludge metallers KYLESA, dance-punk rockers MY PASSION, alt-rockersPULLED APART BY HORSES, and Britain’s gloomiest goth-metallers PARADISE LOST, all of whom are very much looking forward to what is undoubtedly the hottest weekend in the UK rock calendar:

“We’re all majorly looking forward to being part of Sonisphere 2011.” Says GOTK’s Chris Gomerson “Just by looking at the line-up you can tell Sonisphere is going from strength to strength bringing more and more great bands into the UK music scene. It’s a good time to be a British band when we have festivals like this on our home turf!”

His sentiments are echoed by MY PASSION’s LAURENCE RENÉ, who reckons, “Sonisphere is a festival made for My Passion to perform. Not only is it on our doorstep being Hertfordshire men but we are also ready to follow the footsteps of our new label mates Rammstein who played one of the most phenomenal shows my senses have ever witnessed in 2010. This one will be a huge homecoming for us with our new line up, & we are ready to entertain and exhilarate Sonisphere and then join the party for the rest of the weekend. Slipknot and Biffy are hugely influential and just a taste of the diversity!”

“It’s really great to be added to the Sonisphere bill.” Agrees PARADISE LOST frontman NICK HOLMES. “It’s a top line up this year and I intended to go along anyway, only now I don’t have to blag my way in ;) Look forward to seeing you all there for a monster weekend of metal!”

“Bad things happen when Hayseed Dixie plays Sonisphere” warns frontman BARLEY SCOTCH ”Our bodies are Rock & Roll temples, and we will sacrifice them on the altar of Sonisphere.”

The RED BULL BEDROOM JAM stage returns to SONISPHERE again this year, and has another six acts to add to this year’s line up. Sheffield noisemakers ROLO TOMASSI will perform on the Friday, followed by electronica duo TEK-ONE - who return after performing in BOHEMIA last year – and Djent metallers TESSERACT on the Saturday, who reckon “Sonisphere is without a doubt one of the coolest festivals on the planet, and this year’s lineup looks incredible. We feel privileged to be representing the new sound emerging on the scene and be playing the same festival alongside the legends.”

The RBBJ stage line up is completed by alt-rockers ARCANE ROOTS, and Preston Pop-Punks ME VS HERO who perform on the Sunday, fresh from their upcoming tour with Skindred. Vocalist Sam Thomson says:

“Knebworth is like our second home and Sonisphere a mecca for all things rock and punk. We are honoured to be back and playing with many of our favourite bands and friends such as Four Year Strong, All Time Low, and You Me At Six”.

Since its inception, the JAGERMEISTER stage has showcased some of the coolest bands on the scene, both up and coming future stars and cult faves and this year is no exception if these ten additions are anything to go by.

After winning the SONISPHERE sponsored “Global Metal” award at last year’s Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, DEMONIC RESURRECTION make their UK debut at KNEBWORTH on Sunday, which the Mumbai five piece are more than a little excited about:

“We are at a loss for words to describe how we feel confirming to play Sonisphere, just the thought of watching the Big 4 let alone be playing the same festival as them is enough to give us goosebumps. Not to mention the insane lineup of bands like Opeth (who we’ve opened for in India), Arch Enemy, Periphery and many others who we can’t wait to see. DR fans can expect a blistering performance from us, it is our first gig in the UK and we intend to make it a memorable one.”

Also appearing on the JAGERMEISTER stage across the weekend will be Essex rockers HOUNDS who perform on the Friday, with the Saturday boasting appearances from hotly tipped blues-rock future superstars SAINT JUDE, rock’n’rollers THE VIRGIN MARYS, plus UK rockers THE CRAVE and JETTBLACK, who both look forward to the weekend:

“We were lucky enough to play Sonisphere in its very first year here in the UK in 2009” says THE CRAVE’s frontman/guitarist RYAN BURNETT“It was a great atmosphere and a great show from what we can remember, but it was the Jager stage, so we don’t remember that much. We look forward to not remembering much from this year’s great performance too. Be there to remind us.”

JETTBLACK bassist TOM WRIGHT enthuses “To be playing one of the biggest metal festivals is one thing, but to be on the same bill as four of the biggest metal bands of all time is fucking amazing!”

On the Sunday, in addition to DEMONIC RESURRECTION, Manchester power trio AMPLIFIER, Welsh thrashers ANTERIOR, and FLETCHER will perform alongside the mighty ORANGE GOBLIN. Frontman BEN WARD (who was recently spotted guesting with Kyuss Lives at their recent London Shows) reckons:

“Orange Goblin are delighted and honoured to be a part of Sonisphere 2011. This festival marks the first ever ‘Big 4’ shows on British soil so the weekend will go down in the annuls of metal history! Although, now Orange Goblin are playing I guess it should be re-named the Big 5!!!”
