Over its four edition journey, SXM Festival has hand-crafted one of international underground electronic music’s most celebrated events. Its unique sense of magic comes from a fusion of world-class music curation, a deep sense of unity with its stunning host island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, an inspirational artistic aesthetic and a commitment to luxury-driven comfort. Today SXM Festival has revealed its phase two lineup of globally renowned selectors for the March 11-15, 2020 edition.

It is with the constantly evolving taste of the international dance music community in mind that SXM Festival crafts its scene-leading musical offerings. The result is a mixing pot of industry titans and emerging acts sourced from all corners of the world with the united purpose of pushing the sounds of the underground to their absolute limit.

Staying true to its nature of finely curated music programming, phase two of SXM’s carefully polished lineup includes forward-thinking electronic legend Bonobo, Spanish techno giants Audiofly, renowned house music legend Danny Tenaglia, international tastemaker John Acquaviva, Moroccan ambassador Amine K, Do Not Sit curator Behrouz, and Get Physical founder M.A.N.D.Y.

The roster extends further with the addition of Parisian underground mainstay DJ W!LD, legendary progressive icon Hernan Cattaneo, and Cirque Du Soleil founder turned DJ marvel Guy Laliberté. Also gracing the coveted SXM stage will be Life and Death co-founder Thugfucker, French 4/4 kingpin OXIA, one-third of the [a:rpia:r] trio Raresh, Maya Records powerhouse Joeski, Ibiza party mastermind tINI, and live electronic-trio WhoMadeWho

These acts will be joining an already standout list of performers, featuring leaders from all walks of the international house and techno industry. This melting pot of talent includes the likes of the inimitable Ricardo Villalobos, the spellbinding sonics of Bedouin, Music On! boss Marco Carola, and SXM favorites Chaim, Blond:Ish, Enzo Siragusa, and Sonja Moonear to name a few.

The means by which these performances are spread across five days of peaks and valleys remains the true magic of the SXM Festival experience. Each set is thought of as part of an emotional odyssey taking travelers on a rhythmic journey through the natural beauty of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. Attendees may find themselves dancing on the idyllic shores of Happy Bay at sunset, partying at a premiere nightclub until dawn, then being swept away for a Boat Party at or a blissful sunrise soirée at Boho’s Beachclub. The ebb and flow of the event is what retains its uniqueness, with each bespoke performance just a quick trip away from luxury villas and world-class hotels in which to rest for the day ahead. Each aspect of the programming aims to build towards its infamous emotional crescendos like the exclusive clifftop Villa Party and iconic Sunday morning Sunrise over Happy Bay. Since the devastating impact on the island by a series of 2017 hurricanes, SXM Festival sought to further its devotion to the support of the local people of the island and the protection of the natural resources that make it one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Its famed stages and decor are crafted from natural materials sourced from the island itself, while its world-leading low-energy LED lighting design is powered by solar technology. In partnership with the Martinique non-profit organization Les Connections, SXM Festival’s waste management and recycling principles will continue to be a the forefront of the event’s infrastructure in a two-fold process to both its minimize environmental impact and educate fans in the hopes of integrating these principles into the wider, global community. Attendees will also continue to be treated to a convenient official-SXM Festival shuttle system that helps reduce carbon emissions.

Furthering this ethos, fans are encouraged to work alongside SXM artists in a series of activities including mid-event  beach cleanups as well as a pre-event garbage collection for local St Martin residendents. This year round partnership, The Get Up Clean Up! Lead by Mystraw Company and Dauphin Telecom offers local participants a chance to earn free tickets to the event, adding a truly multicultural attendee-base felt in few other global events.

In 2019 organizers, artists, and attendees bound together through the SXM Festival created Two Bunch Palms Foundation to donate school equipment and rebuilt recreation centers on the island. Further resources and involvement were supplied to SXM Doet, the largest volunteer program in Sint Maarten and the Dutch Kingdom, which sees thousands of participants giving  back across the island. This year these efforts will be furthered, offering festival-goers the chance to give back while in the midst of their five day journey throughout this culturally rich destination experience.

While these these cornerstones of showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of the island remain at the forefront of the SXM mantra, attendees will also be treated to an utmost sense of luxury that can be experienced at very few events around the world. VIP packages allow special access to the exclusive clifftop villa party, lounge areas, bars, and other onsite venue amenities. Those seeking a truly premiere journey can secure convenient all-inclusive hotel rooms and a bevy of luxury villa options spread throughout the island. Kyo continues to be the most vital club in Kuala Lumpur and beyond as it heads into its third year with another mouthwatering mix of headliners throughout January including a massive week of celebrations that peaks with a third birthday party with the one and only Jazzy Jeff on the 18th.
This sleek, futuristic club mixes up world class house and techno names with a regular mix of hip hop and r&b royalty each night of the week and plenty of local and regional debuts. Its sound system is well known around the world as one of the finest there is, and the club has an edgy, urban feel that welcomes a mix of ages and provides fantastic atmospheres week in, week out.
As part of the birthday celebrations, you can also look forward to a curated  exhibition that celebrates the history of the club with photos and videos taken from the archives. House Of Kyo retells the unforgettable stories that have brought together a community of music lovers under one roof and explores the most memorable nights of stellar parties and superstar performances.
The big news is that in the middle of the anniversary week is the very special 3rd Birthday party on January 18th with the one and only Jazzy Jeff. This American DJ and producer legend continues to represent with his solo projects, collaborations, mixtapes and live shows. His love of music shines through in everything he does. Over the course of his career, DJ Jazzy Jeff has achieved many accomplishments including a DMC Championship and multiple GRAMMY and American Music Awards and nominations. But he is a humble man who is still doing it as his 2002 hit said: “For Da Love of Da Game.” He is joined by red hot talents Dj Biggie and Aku Ash & Kooler for a night of slick house and bouncing hip hop. It will be a big party to celebrate this milestone, and one not to be missed.
January also includes plenty more highlights such as the event to start off the third anniversary week – r&b and hip hop party Geisha’s Playground featuring Lil Asian Thiccie, Dj Moma, Afaro, MC Deekid and more. Then the 16th is a showcase of Kyo’s very own workforce, with the people behind the scenes taking over the console and taking the club back to its house roots. Joining them is one of Kuala Lumpur’s long-standing music collectives, The Sweatbox, who once set home in Ren Lounge. Playing will be Godwin P (Kyo’s Boss Man, Godfather of Singapore’s dance music ) Axel Groove (Kyo’s DJ Booker aka the groovy Sex Panther) and EJ Missy (Kyo’s Marketing Ninja, Singaporean DJ champion).
Then it’s back to the old school, not forgetting the latest bangers, from Ash & Friends with Dj Aku Ash, Dj Musher and Dan $HIV on the 17th, then Kyo Sundays returns with a cool selection of afrobeats and hip house with Dj Moma, Melissa Jo and MC Deekid. Escape the Monday blues at kyo Sundays as DJ Moma and his crew crank up the weekend vibe.
Once again there is no finer place to party in Asia than at Kyo this January.

Glasgow’s Platform 18 Announces 2020 Edition with Richie Hawtin, Floorplan, Fjaak (live), ANNA and More

Platform 18 continues to reshape the Glaswegian scene with its mouth watering 2020 edition on Saturday July 4th and 5th 2020, featuring world class headliners Richie Hawtin, Floorplan, Fjaak (live), ANNA and more all playing one visually spectacular main stage in a unique urban setting.
All this once again goes down on West Street, on the South side of the city, in a space that has only been used by Platform 18. It is a subway station car park beneath two bridges that has a raw, illicit feel that harks back to the earliest, purest days of raving. Enclosed by walls and the bridges themselves, it is a small, intense space that, in an echo of the iconic dance music phenomenon that is planes flying over DC10, has regular trains rattling by on the lines above, often adding to the electric atmosphere generated down below!
Platform 18 offer something new and fresh for Glaswegian house and techno lovers and has done since 2013. It comes from the mind of a promoter who has been putting on events for over 12 years and gives you an intimate connection with DJs: everything is set up so the raver and DJ are in sync, the selectors can join punters in the crowd for hugs and even high fives during set and they have done many times in the past, which always makes this a very special and standout occasion.
What’s more, from the beginning, Platform 18 have worked with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and created the healthy slogan ‘Everyone on the same level’. Over the years they have raised around £5000 in funds but more importantly continue to create awareness around the issue with young people who may be directly or indirectly affected.
The one main stage will be decided out with visuals and more production than ever before in 2020 and this year for the first time there will be a slot set aside for up and coming local artists Systematic and Tom & Gerry. “We really want to support the future and these lads have what it takes,” says founder Ivan Kutz, who also plays the festival again this year.
Musically it is another high class affair in 2020 with techno titan and Minus label boss Richie Hawtin bringing his avant garde futurism, Brazil’s leading techno proponent and Drumcode associate Anna, a live show from the jacking Berlin outfit Fjaak, and some true school Detroit sounds from the foster daughter duo of Robert and Lyric Hood, who imbue their timeless sounds with gospel influxes and get the floor in raptures every time they play. Add in cult underground legend Domenic Cappello, Glasgow’s man of the moment Fraz.ier and you have an all encompassing soundtrack.
Platform 18 is a two-day techno bonanza unlike any other in Glasgow, and the next edition is shaping up to be the best yet.

ECO CREDENTIALS AT EPIZODE

All over the world, festivals, both large and small, are growing conscious of their ecological footprint.

This year Epizode also will focus on green credentials with the new eco-initiatives.

By promoting environmental awareness we are doing as much as we can to minimize the harmful impact and to strengthen the idea of a community coming together to celebrate the environment while listening to good music.

During the whole production and festival period, we claim to educate the team, local partners and the audience about the responsibility that one can take to prevent the collapse of the eco-system.

Epizode will control what comes onsite and into our ecosystem, we choose to take action to limit plastic waste and positively influence the attitudes and behavior of our beloved guests.

This check-list contains an essential points of improvement we achieved so far:

Plastic water bottles are no longer presented.

We are very proud to announce a collaboration with beWater who will be supplying us with water in aluminum cans!

beWater have committed to fully managing the entire life cycle of their cans, from distribution to collection & recycling to supporting crucial local causes.

Plastic straws are replaced with eco-friendly wild grass straws from our local partner Zero Waste Saigon.

Tableware we use in foodcourt is now made from recycled sugarcane and decomposes in 45 days. It was provided by Ho Chi Minh based company Green Domino Eco Solutions.

Festival launches cup sharing system in the bars. You get the cup with a deposit of 1 token when buying your first drink at any bar and keep it with you. Cups can be exchanged for clean ones with the purchase of a new drink. Just ask the bar staff. Used cups can be returned and the deposit will be refunded.

Separated waste collection approach will be represented on the Epizode festival. We provide three types of trash bins: for plastic, aluminum and mixed garbage with a transparent system of its further recycling.

We aim to keep the territory clean from any waste and cigarette butts are the most intrusive ones – merchandise shop offers affordable pocket ashtrays to be carried out with you.

Apart from pocket ashtrays our merchandise shop also offers a lot of eco-friendly items – among them are reusable water bottles, bamboo straws, bamboo cups and many more.

Educational focus is absolutely a must when you aim to reach out for contemporary minds: we deliver the ecological agenda through expert voices on lectures and trainings organized in the newly designed and comfortable recreational space called Whale Temple.

In collaboration with Phu Quoc Clean & Green we organize two cleaning events to remove the waste from the beach. The first one is for the global Epizode team and local volunteers on the 15th of December. The second round will be held on the 3rd of January and invites all the guests to participate.

Festival’s art crew is also motivated to organize their workflow in a green way: artists and decorators in the first priority consider reusable options on second hand market before buying new stuff or materials

Sydney’s Electric Gardens Festival Reveals Latest Names For 2020’s 5th Anniversary Celebration

In Summer 2020, Electric Gardens delivers its biggest and most diverse lineup yet for its 5th anniversary: Half a decade of cutting-edge producers and world-class DJs will be celebrated in Sydney’s shining Centennial Park on Saturday 22nd February 2020 including Armand Van Helden, DJ EZ, Craig David Presents T5, Nora En Pure, Gorgon City, Alan Fitzpatrick, My Nu Leng, Pan-Pot, Reinier Zonneveld live, Wilkinson and many more world class DJs and live shows.
Since a game-changing debut  back in 2016, Electric Gardens has established itself as an essential boutique event for electronic music fans across the country. Electric Gardens 2020 continues the event’s tradition of presenting top-tier electronic artists and underground sensations; with dazzling stage production, generous set times and a pristine location. It’s careful curation that has seen the event become a staple for Australian fans over the past five years, and the milestone is a testament to Electric Gardens dedication to booking exciting electronic talent, while simultaneously steering clear of trend-dependent and novelty acts.
The Electric Gardens 2020 bill is headed up by none other than acclaimed multi-million record selling artist Craig David, who will be bringing his widely-praised TS5 show Down Under. Combining his skills as a DJ and live performer, TS5 sees David fuse seasoned classics with contemporary anthems for a sprawling party set, drawing upon his extensive background in UK Garage, dance, pop and R&B. David’s high-energy TS5 set has graced the biggest festivals stages across the globe including Glastonbury, Tomorrowland and will now close out Electric Gardens in riveting fashion after sold out UK and US tour and continued Top 5 UK chart placings for his most recent singles.
Next is US house pioneer Armand Van Helden, who has very much helped define the genres with his vital work on labels like Nervous, Southern Fried and Strictly Rhythm and many more. Always drawing on hip hop, r&b and soul for his sample sources, he has a heartfelt sound with a real sense of groove that has got people dancing for decades, and the big personality continues to be a key player in the global scene.
A longtime crowd favourite in Australia and abroad, DJ EZ will be bringing the UKG a-plenty to Electric Gardens Sydney. Quite possibly the best DJ in the world right now, Elvin is a master selector who has honed his incredible skills on radio airwaves, clubs and festivals for well over two decades. Electric Gardens is also excited to welcome South African-Swiss producer Nora En Pure who will be bringing her ethereal set to the Sydney stage.
And after dominating the charts with their recent Billboard Dance #1 singles ‘There For You’ and ‘Go Slow’, one of the most in demand acts in the industry, UK duo Gorgon City will be making their highly-anticipated return to Australia. For fans of techno and blistering BPM, Berlin duo Pan-Pot and the esteemed Alan Fitzpatrick will get dancefloors moving while Filth on Acid head honcho Reinier Zonneveld will flex his skills with a punchy live set.
Bass enthusiasts will be well looked after, too: Having long established himself as a favourite on the local festival circuit, What So Not will return home to Australia for Electric Gardens Festival, joined onstage by surprise special guests for the exclusive debut of his brand new live set of atmospheric yet heavy tunes. He’ll be joined by fellow Australian hero ShockOne off the back of his 2019 album A Dark Machine, as well as UK drum & bass producer Wilkinson, who just sold out the O2, is a regular at Ibiza’s iconic Together night and always races through a blizzard of different genres with real skill. His electric set will be complemented with DJ Ad-Apt on the microphone.
The latest additions include Brazil’s leading progressive house pioneer and enduring Kompakt label associate Gui Boratto, who always brings waves of emotions to his grooves, plus Spanish house giant and long time Amnesia resident Mar T, as well as Lucille Croft, Hoten and Ricky Cooper & Andy Ef.
The Electric Gardens story begins back in 2001 in the UK, when visiting Australian dance fans Damian Gelle and Anton Marmot threw a backyard party in Walthamstow. Inviting their DJ friends to play and charging a small cover, the intimate gathering was a success, and it eventually evolved into South West Four festival in 2004. That event still attracts well over 70,000 attendees at Clapham Common to this day. Armed with first-hand festival knowledge, experience and connections; the duo returned home to Australia and founded Electric Gardens, with the goal of providing a European party atmosphere Down Under. Five years down the track, the mission is being fulfilled every year, with Electric Gardens blossoming into one of the most essential festivals of them all.
This next chapter of Electric Gardens is set to kick off in style on February 22, and is a faultless day of dance in the Sydney summer.
