Agoria announces new single ‘ 3 Letters’ Ft Blasé with remixes from Andhim & Stereocalypse

Check out the video previews here – https://www.facebook.com/sapiensrec/posts/2651216475097475

Agoria returns to his Sapiens label with a fantastic new EP that comes with remixes from Stereocalypse and andhim.

Agoria is in the middle of a real purple patch that includes his original soundtrack for French comedy Lucky plus brand new EPs including this one on his own Sapiens label. The long time French electronic icon also recently finished his critically acclaimed debut solo art show during Art Basel Miami at Scope, curated by Santiago Guggenheim and shows now signs of slowing down. ‘3 Letters’ is a perfectly emotive pop-dance track with catchy finger clicks and warm, summery chords complete with a pained vocal sample rising out up top. It is a heavenly groove and one that stays long in the memory.  The release features th amazing vocals of Blasé who Agoria worked with on his huge summer release last year ‘Your Not Alone’

Stereocalypse is an Italian duo that has found great success on labels like Innervisions and they re-work that track into something more suited to the club, with edgy snares and a tense lead synth line that eventually explodes in cosmic fashion to take you on a real trip. Enduring German house specialists andhim then step up with an S Computer Love Mix that flips the track into something futuristic and spaced out, with far-sighted pads and pixelated melodies lighting up the whole track with real colour. An Instrumental is also included and strips out the vocal for a more direct impact. This is another standout single from this long time French wizard.

At a time of tremendous growth for Beatport and Beatsource’s LINK technology, today marks the launch of their integration with Algoriddim djay on mobile (iOS) and djay Pro on desktop (Mac). Having won multiple Apple Design Awards and been named Best Music App of the Year by DJ Mag, today’s free update to djay and djay PRO brings a seamless integration of Beatport and Beatsource LINK, including the industry’s only Offline Locker, Top 100 Tracks, and professionally curated playlists. Users of Algoriddim’s djay performance software can instantly access important track metadata like Key and BPM from both Beatport and Beatsource, with the ability to save favorite tracks straight into playlists.  djay’s ‘Match’ feature also seamlessly integrates with LINK, providing track recommendations on-the-fly to help users find the perfect next track to mix and to discover endless new music based on what they are playing.

At a time where having diverse and affordable methods of DJing is more essential than ever, Beatport LINK, and the recently launched Beatsource LINK, come to Algoriddim djay at a critical moment, and open the door even further to DJs of all skill levels. With the combo of LINK and djay, users can start mixing the best in electronic or open-format music quickly and seamlessly with their existing DJ hardware, including djay Pro’s official certification for use with the CDJ line of hardware by Pioneer DJ, as well as over 100 other DJ controllers directly out of the box.

Additionally, all metadata such as cue points, loops, etc. are synchronized so users can use Beatport and Beatsource on the go with djay on their iPhone or iPad and then perform on the Mac with all of their data synchronized across all devices. Beatport and Beatsource users can now explore the respective extensive music catalogues on the go by storing up to 100 tracks in LINK’s Offline Locker, practice their sets, add tracks they discover, and get to mixing instantly when they get back to their Mac, or simply perform with ease from their iPhone or iPad.

Across their djay software, Beatport and Beatsource LINK users will have access to Automix AI, allowing users to enjoy an automatic mix of their favorite curated playlists, the Beatport and Beatsource Top 100, and genre playlists. The modern user interface that djay provides gives flexible layers of functionality to LINK users alongside the powerful music libraries of Beatport and Beatsource.

Speaking about the integration, Robb McDaniels, CEO of Beatport said, “djay is the most popular mobile app for DJs, so we are extremely excited to integrate both Beatport and Beatsource and make millions of expertly curated songs available to millions of up-and-coming DJs and music tastemakers.”

“I have personally been a djay user for many years,” Brian ‘DJ Quickie’ Wong, President of Beatsource added. “It is so easy to get started DJing in less than a few minutes. The idea that anyone can have an instant DJ collection of millions of songs from the Beatport or Beatsource library is a revelation that has endless potential for the future of DJing. You are no longer limited by what you have, but only by what you can do.”

DUBROVNIK – World’s 1st Quarantine

World renowned social media brand Mr. Afterparty and BSH Events are looking to take you on a spectacular music journey through historically and culturally rich treasures of the world’s best cityscapes, with their new fundraiser series “Steam City Live”.

The first event launches in Dubrovnik, Croatia, at 5pm BST on Sunday May 24th from the ancient walls of “The Pearl of the Adriatic” and world’s first quarantined city back in 1377, and it will be aired from the Mr. Afterparty pages as well as BSH Events and selected partners.

BSH Events is a production and event management company based in Zagreb, Croatia producing dance events with an out of the box approach to unique venue selections, which have a significant cultural value such as the 13th century Medvedgrad Fortress, Zagreb Airport and Trsat Castle.

The first event comes in association with the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourism Board and Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Walls. The storied and stunning city, part of the UNESCO heritage, is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Europe. Its beautiful landscape has been home to a number of movies and series as seen on “Game of Thrones”, “Star Wars” and “Robin Hood” to name a few.

In 1377 during the Great Plague, which is considered to be the worst pandemic to ever happen, the Republic of Ragusa – Dubrovnik today – started implementing the world’s first quarantine measures in a desperate attempt to contain the disease within city walls. In 1431 the first stone Lazzaretto (a building created to hold quarantined persons) was built on Supetar island, and soon the construction of a larger, fully-equipped lazzaretti followed in order to accommodate the ill and the suspect, so is the perfect location to kick off this series.

The stream will feature two live DJ sets from two separate locations – the Lazzaretti, as well as the ancient city walls of Dubrovnik while taking you on a cultural journey to the most beautiful spots of the city. Starting with Mathame’s ‘Nothing Around Us’ on Afterlife played by a pianist and a violinist from two different sites, you will be introduced to the DJ sets at sunset as you are shown the two perspectives of the city by day and by night.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated in favour the International Red Cross and local charities in aid of COVID-19 appeals.

Woo York Announce Echoes From Beyond EP on Afterlife Recordings

Woo York Announce Echoes From Beyond EP on Afterlife Recordings

Woo York follow up their ‘Chasing The Dream’ album with an EP of timeless, acid compositions. ‘Echoes From Beyond’ houses four of the Ukrainian duo’s signature productions. The infectious melody of the title track opens the release in show-stopping style before ‘Dancing With Sirens’ and ‘Minimalism’ take you deeper with triplet pulses, dense basslines and a cosmic atmosphere. ‘Epilogue’ is an eyes-closed epic to end the release on a high.Since the start of their career in 2009, the Kiev-based duo Woo York has come a long way from being local heroes to becoming an internationally recognized live act with their own signature sound. They are constantly developing their live show, innovating with studio productions and widening their audience globally.

2012 was the year Woo York became integral members of the international techno community, releasing a set of strong EPs on legendary Glaswegian label Soma Records and Planet Rhythm, a veteran techno platform which they ended up curating for a few years afterwards. Woo York’s sound was never just plain four-to-the-floor techno, it was the melodic side of their music that has made them stand out.

An important milestone in their career so far was their appearance on Life And Death in early 2015. Since their debut EP ‘The Valley Of Songs’ hit the stores, Woo York became closely associated with the globally renowned duo Tale Of Us, who later signed them to their current label Afterlife. The relationship resulted in the release of Woo York’s acclaimed debut album Chasing The Dream in 2018, as well as shows at a number of Afterlife events worldwide. In addition, Woo York have released on respected labels including Drumcode and Dystopian. Woo York’s improvisational, hardware-based live set combines both energetic and experimental techno elements with acid leads and euphoric atmospheres. They deliver a powerful, driving, dark-yet-sophisticated sound that is truly singular within today’s techno scene. They now have a touring schedule including many of the most revered events worldwide and show no signs of slowing down.

Parallells duo launch ‘A Day In ‘series with a fantastic first film from Essaouira in Morocco

The Parallells duo are proud to launch their A Day In series with a fantastic first film from Essaouira in Morocco, during Moga Festival. The film features a new and exclusive track “A Day In Essaouira” which will be available for purchase on Bandcamp and profits will go to the Associations Yerma Gnaoua and Issaouas in order to help Moroccan traditional musicians and their families to overcome the CV19 crisis.

Julien and Thomas de Bie, former students of the Academy of Music, grew up influenced by jazz and classical music and are now underground electronic stalwarts who are based in Amsterdam. They perform at major festivals such around the globe, manage Klassified Records and the Klassified Music Festival and have just opened “The House of Klassified” in Amsterdam; a creative hub for their artists combining: studios, recording facilities, an art gallery and co-working spaces.

With this ambitious new project, Parallells have taken their musical venture even further by discovering different cultures, tribes and their specific sounds. This episode is the first one of the video series “A Day In” where Parallells translate, through field recordings, a specific culture, city or country. It is said that “Music is the universal language” and Parallells aims to show how it connects people as well as showing the world’s beauty and use music as a force for change. This video was filmed by friend Arnaud Moro who does a remarkable job of capturing the process through his lens.

This last October, Parallells, Maalem Omar Hayat and his crotales players performed a unique show combining Gnawa music infused with electronic music. It came about as an initiative from Moga Festival called Moga Creation. Creating bridges between tradition and modernity, perpetuating the heritage of Essaouira, a city of mixed cultures, highlighting local creativity and hospitality, this project is what Moga Creation aims for.

Parallells rehearsed in the middle of Essaouira’s Medina, in a sacred place where the synergies were shivering when electronic music met traditional Gnawa’s rhythm and culture. After 3 days together, they played this memorable live at Moga Festival, a performance forever engraved in many people’s hearts.

Gnawa culture is a centuries-old Moroccan practice rooted in African rituals, Sufi traditions and music played with the guenbri, a type of lute with three strings, and steel castanets called krakebs or crotales. Gnawa refers to a “set of musical productions, fraternal practices and therapeutic rituals where the secular mixes with the sacred”

Essaouira is an exceptional example of a late-18th-century fortified town, built according to the principles of contemporary European military architecture in a North African context. Since its foundation, it has been a major international trading seaport, linking Morocco and its Saharan hinterland with Europe and the rest of the world.

Maalam Omar Hayat is delighted with this collaboration with Julien and Thomas, because it perfectly reflects the cultural exchange between Gnaoua music and electronic music. It was a truly unique experience with, as a highlight, this superb live performed at Moga festival, which perfectly symbolizes this alliance. “Moga création”. It is the DNA of Moga festival and a great opportunity to represent these different worlds in the hope of future collaboration, because it was really magic.

This is a fantastic way to launch this new video series which will breakdown borders between music, culture and people all over the world. Watch out for the second episode which finds the pair immersing themselves in the Huichol culture in the Mexican mountains later this year.

This innovative series is a way of Agoria shining a light on the next generation of talents and helping them to rise to the top in these very uncertain times we are facing.. Each of them has impressed him with their new music, and between them they cover plenty of essential electronic ground.
Says the man himself,I am convinced, more than ever, that a loud voice is needed to support artists and future leaders. I most probably became an activist when I had to strive to organise techno and rave parties, which forced me to stand up to the local authorities in order to create the Nuits Sonores Festival in Lyon, France. In that respect, the idea of Re:Generation Day emerged – a day dedicated to bringing four emerging artists to the front. I am fond of their music, and I hope, so will you be, and that somehow it will regenerate you.”
Mooglie is a Parisian electronic music composer who draws on jazz, pop-rock, new wave and Italo disco. He is a formally trained guitarist and bassist with a real musical diversity. He proves that here with the escapist ‘Prelude’ which glows with lush synths and cosmic keys and sends shivers down your spine. ‘Monkey Disorder’ is then more punchy, with crisp hits and a rugged bassline powering it along.
First up is the brotherly pair of Parallels, the Dutch duo who have headlined everywhere from Burning Man to DGTL and also manage Klassified Records as well as regularly exploring unusual places like a factory, hospital or ski resort then transform their recordings into their slick electro sounds. Here they link with Abundance for ‘Blooming Flower’, a beautifully organic house track with wooden hits and thoughtful piano chords draped over deep and rolling drums.
Next is the brotherly pair of Mozaïk, who make ethnic and melodic music with bewitching synthesisers lines and powerful drums on labels such as Madorasindahouse, Radiant and Plaisirs Sonores Records. They kick off with ‘Mavembe’, a dramatic track with raw percussive energy, exotic vocal sounds and big, driving bass and sweeping synths that lift you off your feet. ‘Rica’ then offers  a deeper and purposive house groove that surges into the night with all sorts of samples, keys and glassy textures lighting it up while an instrumental strips it back to more melody focussed house.
Henri Bergmann is a house and techno producer recently signed to Watergate’s DJ roster having got big support for her melodic sounds from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show and Mixmag, with standout DJ shows at places like Glastonbury. He offers up ‘Creature’, an epic house track with expansive pads and chords that rise up to the heavens. The shimmering percussion and an angelic vocal then add to the sense of grandeur and make this a real modern classic.
These EPs are a fantastic showcase of some exciting new talents that all bear the emotional and melodic hallmarks that have made Agoria such an icon.
