The sun is set to shine on T in the Park’s 20th year celebrations, and with temperatures in Kinross currently soaring into the 20s, organisers are gearing up to welcome 85,000 music fans per day to the sunny Scottish countryside this weekend. When Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion) played T in the Park in 2005, he brought a touch of California sunshine to the fields of Kinross, and with Snoop set to return to play the festival’s 20th year bash on Saturday, it appears as though he’ll be once again bringing the sunshine with him.
Geoff Ellis, Festival Director, said:“The sun is splitting the sky here in Kinross as we add the finishing touches to the site, and it’s looking like we’re going to have a glorious weekend for our 20th year celebrations. I think Snoop Dogg must be a lucky charm – he played in 2005 when we enjoyed fantastic weather so I think we may need to book him every year!
“Fans should ensure they’re prepared for all weather this weekend by bringing sunscreen and a hat to shield themselves from the rays. Remember to stay hydrated over the weekend plus bring layers of clothing as temperatures can drop overnight.”
The 20th year bash kicks off on Thursday, when over 35,000 Thursday campers (a new record!) will descend on the fields of Kinross for a top line-up of Thursday entertainment. This weekend, some of the biggest artists in the world will play T in the Park’s 20th year celebrations, including headliners Mumford & Sons, Rihannaand The Killers, plus Calvin Harris, Kraftwerk, The Script, Stereophonics, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Beady Eye, Frank Ocean, Emeli Sandé, alt-J, Foals, The Lumineers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and loads more.
T in the Park organisers have also issued top tips to make sure that festival goers stay safe in the sun this weekend. Says a T in the Park spokesperson:“We’re all looking forward to a sunny T, but the last thing you want to happen is have your weekend ruined becauseyou weren’t properly prepared. These tips should make sure you enjoy the festival and leave with a suntan.”
1) Sunburn is sore and it looks nasty. Bring sun cream, use it and reapply it throughout the day. 2) Drink lots of water! Bring an empty plastic bottle and fill it up for free at the water taps onsite. 3) Don’t drink too much alcohol –alternate with water and soft drinks and don’t forget to eat regularly – eating’s not cheating. 4) Don’t forget to bring any medication such as anti-histamines and inhalers as the sun can exacerbate these conditions. 5) Come prepared for a change in weather! Even if it’s hot during the day, the site could become cold at night so bring a warm change of clothes and bring a waterproof just in case! 6) If you do feel ill at any time, or run out of sun cream, visit a welfare tent or a first aid point situated around the site
With just 5 weeks to go until T in the Park opens its gates to tens of thousands of Thursday campers and the biggest weekend of the summer gets underway, festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have added yet more hotly tipped, under the radar acts to the 20th year bill. The Recovery!, Roman Nose, The LaFontaines, Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun, PAWS, Baby Strange, Fat Goth, Discopolis, Departures, Saint Max and the Fanatics, Animal Noise, Astroid Boys, Story Books, Propellers, The Adelines, Emily Burns, Model Aeroplanes, Big Beat Bronson, Steel Trees and The Lake Poets will all take to the BBC Introducing stage over the weekend of 12th – 14th July.
Glasgow five-piece The Recovery! fuse noise and attitude to create an energetic, heavy rock ‘n’ roll sound. Bringing some dark electro beats to the festival this year are Roman Nose, who have supported the likes of The Glitch Mob and 2manydjs. Combining Hip-Hop, Rock and Pop into one genre mash-up of brilliant noise, The LaFontaines have just played their biggest sell-out headline show to date at Glasgow’s Classic Grand and have supported the likes of Example and Twin Atlantic, plus their track Under The Storm featured as the soundtrack to T in the Park’s 20th year line-up announcement video.
Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun played a rapturously received set at SXSW and have smashed through two UK headline tours. PAWS’ punchy pop punk tracks took off in 2010, and their infectious sound was showcased on their debut LP Cokefloat! in 2012.
Baby Strange have been the talk of 2013, storming the stage and packing out the venues around their home-town of Glasgow including their appearance at Tenement Trail in March. Dundee’s Fat Goth recently released their second album Stud to a slew of outstanding reviews from the likes of Rock Sound, Kerrang! and Drowned in Sound. Edinburgh electronic four-piece Discopolis made their T in the Park debut on the T Break Stage in 2011, and were hailed by NME as one of the top new bands to watch shortly after. With two EP’s and studio albums under their belt, Glasgow band Departures have developed a fanbase for their melodic hard core rock.
Purveyors of offbeat, catchy pop gems, Saint Max and the Fanatics have won support from luminaries including Steve Lamacq and Vic Galloway since forming a year ago. Essex-based trio Animal Noise create energetic acoustic dance music with fast guitar picking and soulful vocals. Cardiff’s grime collective Astroid Boys impressively entwine hard core beats and impressive rapping with street-wise, captivating lyrics. Story Books released their debut EP Too Much a Hunter in May on Communion, the label co-founded by Ben Lovett from Friday headliners Mumford & Sons.
Propellers infuse their classic indie tracks with a disco-inspired twist, and are set to share the line-up with the likes of Jake Bugg and Tom Odell at The Rolling Stones’ forthcoming Hyde Park gig. The Adelines are a guitar-driven quartet who have captured the attention of fans and industry alike with their jangly reverb-guitars and pop sensibilities. Emily Burns oozes dreamy pop with her acoustic sound and Dundee’s Model Aeroplanes are set to own the stage with their energetic indie rock music.
Big Beat Bronson is Newcastle’s answer to a hip-hop super-group, with stunning musical rhymes and vocals. Steel Trees showcase themselves as ‘punk misfits’ with their loud and proud grunge music. The Lake Poets put on an enchanting show with beautiful songs centered around lead Martin’s acoustic guitar.

With less than 8 weeks to go until T in the Park’s 20th year celebrations, festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent's Lager have today announced yet more acts for the festival, with Lower than Atlantis, Mallory Knox and Vigo Thieves all heading to Kinross over 12th – 14th July.
With their infectiously melodic, high octane hardcore, Lower than Atlantis are one of the hottest properties to emerge from the UK’s rock scene in recent years. After releasing their debut EPBretton in 2008, plus two more self-funded albums (2010's Far Q and 2011's World Record), the Watford rockers steadily developed a reputation as an incredible live act, capturing the attention of fans, media and major labels alike. Their self-released single If The World Was To End premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 Show at the start of 2012, and went on to be voted number 11 in the DJ’s Hottest 100 Records of 2012. After inking a deal with Island Records, they released their third album Changing Tune to major critical acclaim last October, and played to loyal fans across the country last month with their UK tour. They’ll bring their massive tunes to Kinross this summer when they make their T in the Park debut.
After quickly establishing a loyal fan base, Mallory Knox released their debut EP Pilot in 2011. The release of their first video Oceans saw the band reach number 2 in the most requested Scuzz chart, and since then they’ve gone from strength to strength. The Cambridge rockers have already notched up a Top 40 record this year with the release of their debut album Signals in January, and are sure to go down a storm at T in the Park.

Kinross will become a Boogie Wonderland this July when the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire take to the T in the Park stage. Their remarkable career, which spans over four decades, has seen them sell over 90 million records worldwide, win 6 Grammy Awards and garner an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Founded by Memphis-born Maurice White, their breakthrough came with the no. 1 album That’s the Way of the World (1975) and they went on to dominate the charts that decade with an unbroken run of multiplatinum-selling albums including Gratitude, Spirit, All ‘n’ All, The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1 and I Am. Texas played T in the Park’s Balado debut back in 1997 – the same year their massive number 1 hit album White on Blonde catapulted them to global success. They returned to headline in 2001, and are set to play a huge homecoming show at the festival’s 20th year celebrations. After a 6 year hiatus, they release a brand new studio album entitled The Conversation on 20th May, and will showcase their long-awaited new material as well as treating fans to massive anthems such as I Don't Want a Lover, Say What You Want, Black Eyed Boy and Halo when they return to T in the Park in July.
Maryland rapper Logic’s recent rise through the industry has seen him snag a 2013 Freshman spot in hip-hop bible XXL Magazine, sign to Def Jam and work with No I.D. (the veteran producer and now A&R figure who helped mold the careers of Common and Kanye West). He makes his T in the Park debut this July.
AlunaGeorge are being tipped for big things this year, after they enjoyed huge success with their track Attracting Flies. They featured 2nd in the BBC’s Sound of 2013 list (after fellow Tin the Parkact Haim, who topped the list) and their hotly-anticipated debut album is due for release this summer.
Birmingham’s Laura Mvula is also one of this year’s hottest new stars. Her debut album Sing to The Moon shot into the top 10 in March and she gained critical acclaim with a coveted Brits Critics' Choice nomination. With her UK headline tour gaining rave reviews, her unique vocals and jazz-meets-soul style are set to go down a storm in Kinross this July.
Earlier this month, LA rockers Deap Vally opened for fellow T in the Park act Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Las Vegas and absolutely smashed their set at Coachella. Next stop is Kinross, when they bring their raw rock ‘n’ roll sound (created with only a guitar, drums and vocals) to the 20th year celebrations this summer.
Alternative-indie duo Jagwar Ma are Sydney’s answer to Madchester and as a result are causing a stir with their debut single, The Throw. With their 90’s inspired tracks Jagwar Ma are tipped to be huge in 2013.
Scunthorpe’s Ruen Brothers uploaded their track Aces to BBC Introducing on Radio Humberside in January and have been causing a stir ever since. The hotly tipped sibling duo are sure to get the crowd going with their 60s-esque rock ‘n’ roll.
New York’s MS MR went down a storm at SXSW slot in March, with an incredible set sure to follow at T in the Park’s 20th year this July. Their debut single Hurricane created a huge buzz in the blogosphere, with their first album Secondhand Rapture set to propel them to greater levels of stardom when it’s released in May. They’re most certainly ones to watch at T in the Park 2013.
US rap sensation Brooke Candy was first discovered after appearing in Grimes music video and was described by Vice Magazine as “the post-apocalyptic Lil’ Kim”; she has opened for the likes of Azealia Banks and put on an explosive performance at the NME Awards Show in February.
Josephine is a soulful chanteuse from Manchester, whose self-reflective debut album Portrait was voted in the top 50 albums of the year by Q Magazine, with the title hailing her “an extraordinary talent.” She’ll showcase her soulful vocal prowess when she makes her T in the Park debut this July.
They played the very first T in the Park back in 1994 in their former incarnation Glass Onion, headlined in 2000 and 2005, and now the mighty Travis are set to return to Kinross to play T in the Park’s 20th year celebrations in what is set to be a poignant homecoming show for the band and audience alike. Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have today added an array of top acts to the T in the Park bill, with the Glasgow four-piece plus Hurts, Johnny Marr, James Skelly, Jack Savoretti, Willy Mason, Foy Vance, Steve Mason, Milo Greene and DIIV joining the festival line-up over 12th – 14th July.
Festival organisers have also revealed today which days each act is playing, with the weekend of the year fast taking shape.
Travis are huge favourites with the T in the Park crowd, and their previous performances (including 2 showstopping headline sets) are widely regarded as some of the greatest moments of the festival’s 20 year history. After the top 10 success of their debut album Good Feeling, they achieved global success with the seminal, 9 x platinum-selling follow-up The Man Who, which hit the top of the UK album charts. Their much loved back catalogue is packed with classic hits, which have earned them BRIT Awards for Best Album (The Man Who), Best British Group (2000 and 2002) and Ivor Novellos for Best Contemporary Song (Why Does it Always Rain on Me?) and Best Songwriter (Fran Healy). After a temporary hiatus, they make their much anticipated return with their 7th album later this year and are sure to receive a hero’s welcome when they make a long-awaited return to the festival in July.
Manchester Electro-pop duo Hurts were hailed by the BBC’s Sound of 2010 as ones to watch and since then have gone on to achieve global success. Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson have released two critically acclaimed albums, Happiness (2010) and Exile (2013) packed with melancholic 1980s-inspired electro-pop gems, and were a huge hit with the crowd when they played T in the Park in 2010 and 2011, and are set to make a welcome return this July.
Recently crowned NME’s Godlike Genius, Smiths legend Johnny Marr is also heading to Kinross forT in the Park’s 20th year celebrations. As one half of one of the most influential British songwriting partnerships of all time, he challenged pop conventions with The Smiths’ giant, euphoric tunes, and his 30 year career has seen him perform with groups including The Cribs and Modest Mouse. Revered by music fans and critics alike, he has been bestowed with Q Magazine’s lifetime achievement award, Mojo’s Classic Songwriter Award, the Ivor Novello Inspiration Award, and of course, Godlike Genius by NME.
On his first solo-adventure since The Coral’s hiatus, James Skelly has enlisted the help of The Intenders and is due to release debut album Love Undercover this summer. The Coral have been a big favourite of T in the Parkers in years gone by, and their frontman is sure to thrill fans when he reprises some of their greatest hits in Kinross this July, as well as showcasing his new material.
English-Italian singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti released his third album Before the Storm last year to a raft of rave reviews. His catchy guitar tunes are sure to go down a storm with the T in the Park crowd when he makes his debut in Kinross this July.
US singer-songwriter Willy Mason’s debut album Where the Humans Eat, which featured the classic Oxygen, won him major critical acclaim and a legion of fans. Having recently toured with T in the Park headliners Mumford & Sons, he released his third studio album Carry On in December and is set to play the festival’s 20th year celebrations this July.
Northern Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance made a big impression with his 2012 release The Melrose EP, and is set to follow it up with his new album Joy of Nothing this summer. Celebrated for his thought-provoking, powerful lyrics and spine-tingling vocals, he’s been hailed as one of the finest song-writers to emerge from Northern Ireland in recent years.
Fife-born Steve Mason, formerly of The Beta Band is now a solo artist in his own right, with his 2013 release Monkey Minds in the Devil's Time winning critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian. It’s sure to be a special moment when he plays on home soil with his solo debut at T in the Park this July.
Also announced today are LA pop-outfit Milo Green, who bring their harmony-drenched, folk-tinged pop to Kinross. Describing their sound as cinematic-pop, they released their self-titled debut album earlier this year.
DIIV created instant vibrations in the blog-world with their impressionistic debut EP Sometime. With Zachary Cole Smith at the helm, the Brooklyn four-piece’s debut album Oshin blends classic kraut, Creation-records psychedelia, and late-80s Seattle influences to great effect.
Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “Travis have given us some epic performances at T in the Park over the past 20 years, including at our very first outing back in 1994 and incredible headline sets in 2000 and in 2005. They’ve been there since day 1, and it really does feel like they are part of the fabric of T in the Park. We’re absolutely thrilled that they’ll be joining us for our 20th year celebrations – it wouldn’t have felt quite right without them. They’re one of Scotland’s all-time greats with some massive tunes, and the sound of 85,000 voices singing along to their greatest hits in Kinross this July will be quite a poignant moment.
“Johnny Marr is a true legend and we’re honoured that he’ll be joining us for our 20th year celebrations, alongside all the other great acts announced today. It’s going to be a great weekend.”

Some of the hottest pop sensations of the year are set to bring a touch of sparkle toT in the Park’s 20th year celebrations this summer. Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have today added yet more chart-topping stars to the hugely diverse T in the Park bill, with Ke$ha, Little Mix, Lawson, Gabrielle Aplin,James Arthur, Diana Vickers, Lucy Spraggan, Bo Bruce andJosh Record heading to Kinross over 12th – 14th July.
Ke$ha burst onto the scene when her debut single Tik Tok topped the US charts for 9 consecutive weeks, selling over 5 million copies. Her latest album Warrior features guest vocals from Iggy Pop, as well as contributions from an impressive array of artists including Nate Ruess from American indie rock trio Fun., American rapperwill.i.am, The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, The Strokes and The Flaming Lips. She thrilled the Kinross crowd with a stand-out set when she played T in the Park in 2011, and makes a welcome return this July.
Little Mix became first ever band to win The X Factor in 2011, and quickly shot straight to No.1 with their debut single Cannonball, before hitting the top spot again with its follow-up Wings. Their debut album achieved platinum status and they sold out venues across the country with their first UK tour. After coming second on The Voice, Bo Bruce is back and ready to release her debut album later this month. Before I Sleep is a stunning set of emotion-soaked songs – from dreamy debut single Save Me, to the gorgeous, drama-packed exploration of fears that is The Hands I Hold, it’s sure to win a whole new legion of fans.

T in the Park have today announced more top acts for the 20th year celebrations. My Bloody Valentine, Trash Talk,FIDLAR and The Virginmarys are the latest artists to join the T in the Park bill, and will be performing in Kinross over 12th – 14th July.
The hugely influential My Bloody Valentine will make their T in the Park debut this July, in what’s sure to be a very special moment at the festival’s 20th year celebrations. Their much revered debut album Isn’t Anything and their iconic second release Loveless earned the band a devoted following and global critical acclaim. Their long awaited third album m b v has been 22 years in the making, and when they released it on their website in February, demand from fans was so phenomenal it caused the site to crash within minutes. An exhilarating live act, they’ll showcase their highly acclaimed new material as well as classics such as You Made Me Realise andOnly Shallow from their much loved back catalogue.
Sacramento punk group Trash Talk take their influence from American hardcore and speed metal. The group’s steady touring has won them a rapidly growing fan base, and support slots with Odd Future (OFWGKTA) raised their profile even further. They’re guaranteed to deliver a stand out set at T in the Park.
Also making the trip to Scotland from the sunshine state will be punk outfit FIDLAR. The LA four-piece released their eponymous debut album in January, receiving much acclaim for their collection of frenetic, fuzzed out, west coast punk tracks. They caused a stir with their slot at this year’s SXSW, and if past performances are anything to go by, they’re sure to put on a blistering set at T in the Park this July.
Macclesfield’s TheVirginmarys were another buzz band in Austin last month. Their blend of punk, grunge and rock ‘n’ roll influences has already landed them an iTunes single of the week both in the UK and US. Their debut album King of Conflict has won the band plaudits from across the globe, as well as an impressive international fan base, with Slash famously declaring himself a fan, and their set at T in the Park is not to be missed.

LA collective Odd Future (OFWGKTA) are one of the freshest, most inventive hip-hop groups around, and three of their finest lyrical talents Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt will add a dose of West Coast swagger to the T in the Park line-up this July. After first making an impression on the charts as a songwriter for acts including John Legend and Beyoncé, Frank Ocean emerged into the spotlight when he hooked up with Odd Future. The self-released nostalgia, ULTRA.mixtape, plus gems like Novacane and Swim Good cemented his reputation as a star in his own right and caught the attention of Kanye West and Jay-Z, who he went on to collaborate on their Watch the Throne album. Critics across the globe heaped praise on his debut studio album Channel Orange, and 2013 got off to a winning streak when he bagged both a Grammy and a BRIT Award. His T in the Park debut this July is not to be missed.
Fellow Odd Future member (and the collective’s leader and co-founder) Tyler, the Creator is also Kinross-bound this July. The rapper, writer and producer extraordinaire began making music with fellow collective members Earl Sweatshirt, Left Brain, and Hodgy Beats in 2007, and since then their loyal following has rapidly grown to become a world-wide fanbase. The rapper’s T in the Park set will showcase material from his forthcoming album Wolf – the follow-up to 2011’s acclaimed GoblinLP – which is released next month.
At only 18 years old, Earl Sweatshirt is Odd Future’s prodigal son and a hugely talented lyricist and performer in his own right. Following a brief hiatus the rapper is back and at the top of his game. He wowed a packed crowd of critics and tastemakers alike at SXSW last week, and anticipation for the release of his forthcoming album Doris is reaching fever pitch.
Rita Ora made British chart history as the vocalist on one of the first ever drum and bass number one singles in the UK, DJ Fresh’s Hot Right Now. She followed this breakout success by topping the charts with her own debut album, which spawned another two number-one singles How We Do (Party) and R.I.P. A style icon, she counts mentor Jay-Z and fellow T in the Park act Snoop Dogg amongst her many fans (with Snoop hand-picking her to feature on his latest single, Torn Apart). After a stand-out performance at T in the Park last summer, she brings her sassy party anthems back to Kinross for the festival’s 20th year celebrations.
