Boundary Brighton, Second wave of Artists announced!

Working with tireless passion and meticulous detail the team behind brand new music festival Boundary Brighton add a star-studded cast of acts to their debut show. With the bar set high, new acts includeCraig David, Groove Armada, Jackmaster, Richy Ahmed, Jaguar Skills and many more, to dance-out the summer at Stanmer Park on Saturday 17th September 2016.

Craig David has taken 2016 by storm and will headline the festival with TS5; expect a forward-thinking trip to nostalgia; with a heavy emphasis on party. Expect an eclectic mix of bangers from old school anthems and future classics. Commenting on the show, Craig David said "I can't wait to bring 'TS5' to Boundary Brighton! Trust me it's going to go off big time!"

Groove Armada will bring one of their famous DJ sets to the first event. Constantly moving and evolving you can expect a set that goes through the very best In house music.

Jackmaster has a mercurial ear for making people dance, breaking down the barriers between fun, underground and commercial, he'll always leave you with a smile on your face.

When Richy Ahmed is on a lineup, you know the party is going to have some heavy heat. Having earnt his stripes curating some of the DC-10 lineups in Ibiza, he's become a trusted ear within house and techno.

One of the most naturally gifted DJs on the planet, Jaguar Skills is insane to watch when he's in full flow. Tweaking every single knob on the mixer, his technical wizardry puts others to shame. From rock to rave, hip-hop to rap; he'll be mixing it all up with ninja skills.

Iron Dread, the righteous rhyming Lioness will bring her junglist flow to Congo Natty's set. A proper party starter she'll bring a touch of carnival to Stanmer Park.

Boundary is all about doing things a little differently, so we've called on the eccentricity of Bob Kerr and his Whoopee Band, a mad cap jazz outfit formed in 1967. They're as brilliant as they are utterly insane. They are joined by Mr Wilson's Second Liners – A New Orleans band are bubbling over with serotonin infused 90's rave classics. An anarchic extravaganza, bursting with colour and sound, rallying impromptu raves at every turn.

Toni Varga has built a career on connecting with the audience, which has made him a staple on the Elrow lineups globally. He'll be bringing his experiential electronic rhythms to the Elrow stage.

With previously announced acts including Seth Troxler, Wilkinson, Bondax, Jungle, Snake Hips, Toddla T, Tom Trago, Gentleman't Dub Club, Submotion Orchestra and Congo Natty, Boundary Brighton's debut show will offer a vibrant array of music to keep festival-goers on their toes and dancing throughout the day.

With further surprises yet to come, presale and first release have completely sold out with second release tickets running low.

Dr Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour details

Since their inception in 2001, Welsh post-hardcore act Funeral For A Friend have consistently pushed the boundaries of their genre and carved a place for themselves as one of the UK’s most electrifying rock bands. With their upcoming new album ‘Chapter and Verse’ on the horizon, the electrifying quintet stopped off at Edinburgh’s esteemed small venue Cabaret Voltaire as part of the Dr Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour to perform an incendiary set for their hardcore fan base. From their incredible performance last weekend, here they are revisiting their classic single ‘Roses For The Dead’ from their critically acclaimed album ‘Hours’.

What do Funeral For A Friend stand for? "The idea that music can break down walls that segregate us in everyday life and can make you feel a part of something larger than yourself, that's something to stand for. A real sense of community and belonging." – Matthew Davies-Kreye.

Summer Sound Festival announces Kids In Glass Houses, Chloe Howl and more

Gloucester City Council is delighted to announce its refreshed one-day music festival will return for a second year, under another new name. Introduced in July last year as Park:Live, the event has been forced to rebrand following a legal challenge, and will now be known as Summer Sound Festival.

Organiser Joe Schiavon explains more about the name change ‘Obviously it’s a bit of a shame we’ve had to change it after making such a strong start with Park:Live last year, plus we all really liked that name. But there’s a festival in Manchester with a very similar name, and they’ve got a trademark, so we didn’t want any trouble, and said we’d look at something different. Plus, we’d only been going a year with the old one, so it’s not a massive loss. The most important thing for us is about keeping a consistent level of quality with the lineup, and I’m more than confident we’ve achieved that.’

After setting the bar pretty high musically last year, the pressure has been on to match or better the lineup. Headlining this year will be Welsh rockers Kids In Glass Houses. One of the biggest names in UK rock music, this is the first time the band have played in the area, and they’ll no doubt be premiering a lot of new songs from their hotly-anticipated fourth album, due out later in the year.

Main support is the fantastic Chloe Howl, a rising star poised to join the ranks of household female pop names like Ellie Goulding with her sassy beat-driven songs.

We’re delighted to be giving a massive opportunity to local heroes Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun, who have really moved up a level in the last six months after massive tours supporting Frank Turner and Dropkick Murphys in the UK and US respectively. This will be their biggest ever UK show and a well deserved, triumphant homecoming.

Making up the support bill are The Struts, who write massive stadium pop-rock anthems, Propellers, whose sound will remind you of the vintage era for NME-type indie guitar bands (2002-2006, in case you were wondering), Sons and Lovers, who also know their way around a chorus, and have the same manager as Ellie Goulding, and Drive By Night, purveyors of songs bigger than American highways. Kitten and Bear are the other local band on the bill, and they’re about as far removed musically from Jim Lockey’s band as it’s possible to be, but no less talented.

Full lineup:

Kids In Glass Houses
Chloe Howl

Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun
The Struts

Propellers

Sons and Lovers

Drive By Night

Kitten and Bear

Saturday 20th July // Free Entry (no ticket required) // Music from 2pm // All Ages

Rolling Stones confirm their long awaited return to the stage in London and New York

As the crowning glory of their on-going 50th anniversary celebrations, the rock icons will play to thousands of fans at London’s O2 Arena on November 25 and 29, and then across the ocean to perform at the Prudential Center, Newark, near New York, on December 13 and 15.

All ticketing information is available at www.rollingstones.com.

These sensational live shows will be the first opportunity for audiences to see the Rolling Stones perform on stage for more than five years. They will treat their generations of fans in a must-see, heart-pumping celebration of era-defining tracks such as Gimme Shelter, Paint It Black, Jumping Jack FlashTumbling DiceIt’s Only Rock and Roll, plus a few surprises and countless other classics from GRRR!, the multi-format compilation RS50 album coming out in November marking the Stones’ astonishing five decades at the top.

Mick Jagger commented, “Everybody loves a celebration, and London and New York are two good places to do it in!”

Keith Richards said, ”Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over. I've always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones.  I'm here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!"

The Rolling Stones have always been at the forefront of technical innovation in their live appearances, and these dates will reaffirm their place on the cutting edge of concert technology. These 50th anniversary performances will see the band working once again with their acclaimed, long time collaborators, set designer Mark Fisher and lighting director Patrick Woodroffe.

The new shows will be another groundbreaking visual landmark in Stones history. Fans can look forward to an all-new, custom-built set design, with a stage based on the band’s ubiquitous and celebrated tongue and lips logo, which will reach out into the crowd and become a truly must see and hear experience, with integral video screens and effects enhancing the sort of high-octane adventure for which the band’s concerts have been famous for decades. The 2012 concerts will mark the first time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have performed together as a band since three acclaimed nights at London’s O2 Arena, in 2007.

The Rolling Stones live shows will also mark the launch of a new venture in global touring – Virgin Live.  Virgin Live sees the coming together of two globally respected brands – Dainty Group and Virgin Group – and promises to shake up live touring by putting the fan's experience right at the heart of every show they promote.  Richard Branson and Paul Dainty's history with the Rolling Stones spans five decades – so it is apt that these shows, which celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary – marks them joining forces for the first time as Virgin Live to promote the greatest band there has ever been.

Paul Dainty said  “I’ve worked with the Rolling Stones for many years and I still get a buzz every time I see them live, these four shows are without doubt a must-see event. I am extremely excited about this collaboration with Virgin.  There will be a lot more to say about Virgin Live soon but, for now, it’s all about the Stones…”

Richard Branson added:  "Today marks the beginning of Virgin Live and what a beginning!  In the future Virgin Live plans to make a real difference to how fans experience, interact and enjoy live events – Virgin Live gigs will be truly people driven.  It's great to join forces with Dainty Group to launch Virgin Live with the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary shows.  Who would have believed, that a relationship with the band that started in the Sixties, would still be going strong five decades later with us working together again on these amazing shows."

In celebration of five decades, The Rolling Stones will release the GRRR! album on 12 / 13 November, a Greatest Hits collection which includes two new songs ‘Doom and Gloom’ and ‘One More Shot’, recorded recently in Paris, marking the first new recordings from the band since their 2005 album A Bigger Bang. A new film, ‘Crossfire Hurricane’, directed by Brett Morgen, chronicling the key periods of the Stones’ career, will receive its worldwide premiere on 18 October at the London Film Festival and will be simultaneously screened in 250 cinemas across UK and Ireland. Crossfire Hurricane will premiere in the U.S. at the HBO Premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York on 13 November. Crossfire Hurricane will air on HBO in the U.S on 15 November, and broadcast on BBC Two in the UK the same month.  Additionally, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City will host “The Rolling Stones: 50 Years on Film”, a comprehensive film retrospective that chronicles the band from the mid-1960s until today. This exhibition will be open 15 November through 2 December.

Also partnering with Dainty Group is global production company Endemol who will co-manage the international digital rights to the Rolling Stones “50 and Counting” shows.

Tim Hincks, President of Endemol Group said: "We are extremely proud to be partnering with the world’s greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll band and with the Dainty Group.  "50 and Counting" is set to be a phenomenal global celebration of the Rolling Stones and we’ll soon be announcing further plans to make it an interactive experience for fans like no other."

This partnership between Endemol and Dainty Group will see the final Stones show, staged at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on December 15, telecast live via pay-per-view at 9pm ET.  The pay-per-view entitled “One More Shot” will be distributed by WWE, the world’s pre-eminent provider of pay-per-view programming. Further details of the partnership will be revealed shortly.

WWE Chairman/CEO Vince McMahon said: "WWE is ecstatic to bring The Rolling Stones into your living room, live on Pay-Per-View for "One More Shot," the last date of their 50th anniversary shows."

Newton Faulkner new album and UK tour dates announced!

It’s been over three years since 2009’s ‘Rebuilt By Humans’ and in that time he’s toured the world, started a family (he has a one year old son, Beau Henry Faulkner-Richards) and some might say helped usher in a new generation of singer-songwriters. Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka might be stylistically diverse, but their ‘have-guitar-will-travel’ approach surely flows from the trailblazing example of Newton.

Newton Faulkner

Now, after invention, innovation, reinvention and creation, comes his third album, Write It On Your Skin. This one man band (in every sense) has opened himself up to the talents of other writers and players working with his brother Toby (a former drum and bass MC), hip hop fan Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet) and production writing pair Nexus.

The result? An album bristling with spontaneity, the best kind of DIY imagination, and songs from unlikely sources but with a very likely-lad appeal.

He is the feelgood man of the season, the summertime troubadour who brings singalong vibes. As he says now with a laugh, despite his trademark rust-red dreads, he only seems to get recognized when it’s sunny outdoors:

“For some reason if it’s raining it can’t be me – but if the sun’s shining, then it’s definitely me! I’m completely affiliated with the sun. I get that now.”

Newton has previously sold over 1million albums in the UK alone. His debut ‘Hands Built By Robots’ spent over 10 months inside the Top 40 Album Charts and become one of the Top 20 Biggest Selling UK digital albums of all time.

Win festival slots with Live and Unsigned

The prospect for local bands and acts to share the stage with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Example, Chase and Status and many others has blown wide-open with this fantastic opportunity, maybe it’s time to get involved?!

The UK festival scene is ever-expanding, and the chance for unsigned acts to play them is ever-diminishing, so Live and Unsigned has to be THE best chance to get a direct-line to the best UK festivals. The variety of festivals on offer is outstanding; there is a plethora of independent grassroots festivals such as London Summer Jam, Z-Fest, Brownstock, CockRock, Folk on the Water and Newcastle Green; massive national festivals that attract tens of thousands such as Beach Break Live, Live Fest and Norfolk Spectacular; and everything in between including Butserfest, Osfest and AIM’s official ‘Best Independent Festival 2011’, Bearded Theory.

Add to that the prospect of a world tour including festival slots in Latvia with Summer Sound, Italy with Tour Music Fest, and Canada with Supernova and it’s clear to see that Live and Unsigned is THE competition for aspiring bands and acts to enter in the New Year. Alongside the cherry-on-the-top that is the announcement that there will be an exclusive fly-on-the-wall documentary of the Live and Unsigned 2012 competition to be aired on Sky TV, can you afford to NOT enter this competition?

With the chance to play at The O2 in London and with £100,000 in prizes, Live and Unsigned is set to attract thousands of unsigned musicians when auditions begin in January. The competition has also just announced an additional new main cash prize of £10,000 for the winning act to spend on their development.

Acts that make it through the audition stage will get to perform to industry judges, A&R associates and celebrity guests in some of the UK's most prestigious venues. Judges set to join the panel in 2012 include Radio 1 DJ’s Annie Nightingale, Tom Deacon and Daniel P Carter, Kerrang’s Alex Baker and Happy Mondays star Bez.

Auditions begin again in January 2012 with a number of new audition venues on the circuit including the world famous Dingwalls in Camden. Acts are urged to enter now as places are in high demand and auditions are limited for what will be a great platform for any act or band to showcase their music. For information on how to secure your live audition for 2012 go to www.LiveandUnsigned.uk.com and register today!

Swedish House Mafia will join an enviable list of music legends who have headlined the National Bowl including OasisGreen DayMetallicaEminem and Foo Fighters. The list of artists who have played Madison Square Garden reads like a veritable who’s who of music dating from the late sixties to the present day.

The Swedes have already enjoyed phenomenal success to date. Not only did their recent UK tour sell out in minutes which saw a second night added at London’s Alexandra Palace, but they sold over a million singles in 2010 alone, saw their album‘Until One’ reach Gold status, co-headlined Radio One’s Big Weekend and played major festival including Creamfields, T in the Park and Oxegen.
